Emirates step up flight frequency to Mauritius, adding to third dailies from October 1

Emirates Airlines has announced plans to step up its air frequency to Mauritius with the additional evening flight effective from October 1, 2022, till January 31, 2023. It comes in response to increased travel demand to and from Mauritius which will boost connectivity to the local shores. The initiative comes on the heels of re-introducing double daily flights.

The Emirates’ third daily flight to the island will operate with the following local schedule with the EK 709 departing Dubai at 22:10 hrs and arriving in Mauritius at 04:45 hrs. EK 710 leaves Mauritius at 06:30 hrs, arriving in Dubai at 13:05 hrs.

The third daily flight is expected to boost capacity to and from Mauritius by approximately 35 percent in catering to the surge in demand while lending added support to the tourism industry during one of the busiest travel seasons. Moreover, the added frequency supplements the existing double daily Airbus A380 services seeking to also offer flyers to Mauritius more flexibility while planning their trip with a choice of early morning arrival at the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport in addition to the existing EK 0701 landing mid-morning, and EK 0703 hitting the ground early evening.

Flights departing from Mauritius will offer travelers ample choice to connect safely and seamlessly to and through Dubai onwards to Emirates global network of 130 destinations with all three daily flights offering code sharing with Air Mauritius in seeking to ensure greater access and a seamless travel experience to and from the island nation.

Chairman and Chief Executive, Emirates Airline & Group HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum: “We thank the Mauritian authorities for considering our request to operate a third daily flight. Air connectivity is critical to international tourism, and these extra seats will help us bring even more visitors from across our network to Mauritius, and accommodate rising demand. Emirates is committed to playing a key role to promote inbound travel, and support the government in achieving its goal of hosting 1.4 million tourists by June 2023.”

In May, the Emirates renewed its MoU with the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA) designed to jointly spur the island to pose as a very popular destination across the Emirates’ global network and continue on the path to experiencing consistent growth post-pandemic.

Emirates offers the best flying experience in the sky, embedded with an unmatched culinary experience, drawing from regionally inspired multi-course menus concocted by a team of award-winning chefs complemented by a wide selection of premium beverages. Patrons are invited to sit, relax and unwind with more than 5,000 channels, carefully curating global entertainment content featuring movies, TV shows, music, podcasts, games, audiobooks and more with ice, Emirates’ award-winning inflight entertainment system.

Further to chartering more passengers, Emirates third daily flights between Dubai and Mauritius make room for 30-40 tonnes of cargo belly-hold capacity for businesses, ramping up global trade lanes through enhanced import and export opportunities.

The year was September 2002 when Emirates first landed on the island chartering three weekly flights now entering its 20th year of operations serving across the Indian Ocean destination. The airlines spared no efforts to build up capacity in the wake of growing customer demands arising from pent-up travel confidence coinciding with the easing of international travel protocols. As a leading air travel company, Emirates has never been shy in its efforts where it has sufficiently restored its pre-pandemic frequencies right from boosting connectivity to expanding its Tel Aviv schedule with a second daily flight, and case in point is recently resuming passenger services to London Stansted.
