Ahead of the Juristconsult Investment Summit 2022 slated to take place on November 23 at ANDREA LODGES in St Aubin, under the theme, “Innovation, Sustainability & Investment Ecosystems of Mauritius”, a media briefing was held to announce the key themes to be discussed during the one day conference.
Present at the event were the various stakeholders from Juristconsult Consultancy-affiliated as member of the DLA Piper Africa network (DLA Piper), Swan Capital Markets as the main sponsor, and Andrea Lodges. Chairman at Juristconsult Chambers Marc Hein announced that the idea is to tap into the opportunity offered in the aftermath of lockdown and thus pose as one of the reasons to host the event. “One of the objectives of the summit adheres to the 30th anniversary of the Mauritius International Financial Centre (MIFC) celebration where discussions will also take place on how the Euromoney conference in 1992 helped presage the International Corporate and Administration Services as it was known at that time.”

The event will be launched by Finance Minister Dr. Renganaden Padyachy where it will serve as an opportunity to brainstorm, network, think and get trained, armed with the broader objective of emphasis on investment while using Mauritius as an investment platform. Our aim is to promote business and legal activities in the jurisdiction.”
Senior Manager at Swan Capital Solutions Mr. Alvin Jeeawock told that there is a need to invest in the future where the next big thing for the jurisdiction posing as FinTech friendly coupled with the opportunity to speak about the evolution of the MIFC in the past decade. “The Financial Services centre has reinforced its position on the market every year, passing the litmus strength to emerge stronger time and again post several underlying challenges such as treaty revision where it is well bred as a conduit across jurisdictions such as India, Africa and Europe.”
For Nicolas Richard, Managing Partner at Juristconsult Chambers, there has been new development to help spur the financial services sector through the FinTech sector, facilitated by the of virtual Assets and Initial Token Offering Services Act where proper regulations have piqued the interest of global players to use the Mauritius platform.
“As we speak of the local shores posing as a fintech platform, investment funds constitute a huge part in our activities and investment in major projects spanning across agriculture, infrastructure and telecom having the expertise and track record in setting up for DFIs.
