The cultural celebration of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Mauritius culminated on Friday, December 8 with Colors of Bollywood where Minister of Financial Services and Good Governance Hon Mahen Seeruttun was present among a plethora of various guests.
On the sidelines of the cultural event, Minister Seeruttun in his speech expressed gratitude to the Government of India for “serving Mauritius so well.” There was no dearth of arguments to express the deep, symbiotic relationship between India and Mauritius spanning across cooperation in the Financial services sector.
He announced: “The connection between India and Mauritius goes beyond the economic, financial, and diplomatic ties with the role played by India in the offshore sector where we will soon ink an MoU with the GIFT City.”
The economic agreements with India are many and case in point is the flagship CEPCA officially inaugurated by the local jurisdiction in September. “The list of agreements is long in heralding the way for businesses to access the growing opportunities with Mauritius posing as a growing hub for Asia and Africa between India, Mauritius and the African continent.” He added that the jurisdiction will act as a facilitator for its entry to access Africa.”
India’s Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City) is based in Gujarat and built on 886 acres boasting a multi-service Special Economic Zone (SEZ) and home to India’s first global International Financial Services Centre posing as the new business hub emerging competitiveness spreading across financial services activities.
