50th Anniversary: SBM Honors Long-Serving Employees

In celebration of its 50th anniversary, SBM organized a ceremony at the SBM Tower on Monday, September 4, 2023, to honor its dedicated employees who have served the company with passion and commitment for many years. The ceremony witnessed the presentation of trophies to 50 employees who rank among those with the longest years of service. This is a way for the banking institution to recognize the efforts of those who have contributed to its success and growth for several decades.

A modest ceremony marked by recognition. This is how one could describe the event that took place on Monday, September 4, 2023, at the SBM Tower, during which 50 employees with the longest years of service were presented with commemorative trophies. In his remarks on the occasion, Mr. Raoul Gufflet, Group CEO of SBM Holdings Ltd, stated, “This celebration is not only a milestone for SBM but also an acknowledgement of the individuals who, day after day, have contributed to our success. It is essential for us to take a moment to recognize and celebrate the dedication and passion of our long-serving employees. Without them, we would not be where we are today. These awards reflect employee loyalty and the corporate culture that values and acknowledges the efforts and contributions of every team member.”

On his part, Mr. Sanjaiye Rawoteea, Acting CEO of SBM Bank (Mauritius) Ltd, emphasized the values such as dedication and commitment that have always characterized the Bank’s employees since its inception. “As an integral part of this great family, I am deeply touched by our employees’ dedication and determination. It is an honor to work alongside such dedicated professionals. This recognition is a small way to show how much we cherish their contribution.”

To mark its 50 years of existence, SBM has planned several initiatives that will be launched starting this September. Founded under the name ‘The State Commercial Bank Limited,’ SBM commenced its operations on September 3, 1973. Today, the Bank, a leader in the Mauritian market, also operates in India, Kenya, and Madagascar. In Mauritius, SBM boasts the largest network of branches and ATMs in Mauritius and Rodrigues. The SBM Rivière-Noire, inaugurated on Friday, September 1, 2023, brings the number of operational branches in our two islands to 41.
