Jérôme Katz becomes CEO of Phoenix of Tanzania, a subsidiary of MUA and market leader in general insurance in Tanzania.

MUA Ltd, the largest insurance company by market capitalisation in Mauritius, announces a change of leadership at its Tanzanian subsidiary. Jérôme Katz, most recently MUA’s Head of Group Strategy & Investment, becomes Country CEO and takes over the reigns at Phoenix of Tanzania. He replaces Ashraf Musbally, who leaves the group after a career of more than 25 years, the last seven of which were spent advancing the group’s ambitions in East Africa.

Jérôme began his career at Feber Associates (today MUA Pension) almost 15 years ago, growing the business considerably and gradually taking on additional responsibilities within MUA, notably in terms of investments, its non-insurance subsidiaries, the marketing function, and the group’s strategy. Since 2017 Jérôme has been considerably involved in the group’s East African subsidiaries, including as a Board Director. He most recently worked with the new Group CEO Joerg Weber on the group’s transformation program – 4x+1. He now embarks on a career change by settling in East Africa in an operational role in a country in full development. Jérôme is ready to make the most of the opportunities the Tanzanian market has to offer and to further develop the MUA brand in the region
