The Good Shop Mauritius Celebrates 5 Years of Pioneering the Circular Economy and Making a Positive Impact

On November 3, 2023 The Good Shop Mauritius marked a significant milestone as it celebrated its 5th anniversary, reaffirming its commitment to pioneering the circular economy and social entrepreneurship in the country. For half a decade, The Good Shop, through operating second hand shops and upcycling workshops, has been at the forefront of creating a positive impact in the community through its core missions in education, employment, and environment.

The celebratory evening took place in the heart of Calebasses, where The Good Shop’s story has started, by welcoming the board of directors, special partners, faithful donors, and loyal customers. The atmosphere was brimming with warmth and gratitude as the general manager and the core team extended a heartfelt welcome to all the guests.

One of the highlights of the event was the presentation of The Good Shop’s Impact Report, showcasing the remarkable achievements over the past five years. The organization’s commitment to education through solidarity fund, inclusive employment, and environmental sustainability, were showcased as key achievements.

The evening also placed a special emphasis on The Good Shop’s educational mission. Notable guests included the heads of Lighthouse Primary and Secondary School, who shared insights into the school’s vision of education as a powerful tool to break the cycle of poverty. They introduced the concept of the Solidarity Fund, which supports their educational initiatives.

In a heart-warming gesture, The Good Shop’s general manager and the board presented a generous donation to the Lighthouse school from the accumulated percentage of the social enterprise’s profits. This donation is part of The Good Shop’s ongoing mission to positively impact the community.

The celebration was also an opportunity to express gratitude to the various partners, donors, and shoppers who have supported The Good Shop on its journey over the past five years. Attendees were encouraged to continue their collective efforts in “doing good” in local education, employment, and the environment.

As The Good Shop Mauritius enters its sixth year, together with its community of supporters, they look forward to achieving even greater milestones in the years to come.
