Career Launcher aims to be the preferred go-to mentors for all the youth, families: Tony Malik

INTERVIEW: TONY MALIK, DIRECTOR AT CAREER LAUNCHER CENTRE, MAURITIUS

Director at CA Counselling Services Ltd and Director of Career Launcher Centre in Mauritius, under licence of Campus Abroad, Pradeep (Tony) Malik a recently retired partner from Deloitte Mauritius, boasts of several achievements under his belt such as Fellow member (FCA) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales. He also served across jurisdictions such as the United Kingdom, Canada, Singapore, India and Mauritius with the Big Four for 38 years. In this interview, the Director of Career Launcher Centre who has extensive experience in talent-related matters such as student recruitment and career counselling explains the presence of the brand and its core values, on ways to tap both the vibrant and local communities as well as the odds of bringing successful initiatives in India such as Career Blockchain and CL Olympiad to the benefit of local students.

According to research, Career Launcher boasts an incredible average user base of 80,000 students annually and 2 million individuals respectively on its platform purchasing books and periodicals while guiding 800,000 to pursue higher education. Considering in Mauritius there is a growing number of expats including many Indians making the island home, how do you plan to tap this market together with locals?  

CA Counselling Services Ltd (CACS) is excited about the growing number in terms of expats and the local demographic in Mauritius. By leveraging Career Launcher’s success, we aim to not only engage but also serve the diverse and vibrant community by tailoring our services to the unique needs of both expats and locals. Career Launcher’s proven platform, boasting an average user base of 80,000 students annually, will be instrumental in providing valuable guidance and resources while fostering a supportive educational environment for all.

We aim to become the preferred go-to mentors for all youth and families on the local shores in helping to shape and achieve their career dreams.

2. Ahead of the launch, what would be the broader objectives of Career Launcher on the island in tapping both public and private schools? 

Tony: CACS’s Career Launcher in Mauritius aims to establish strategic partnerships with both public and private schools while offering comprehensive educational support. Through cutting-edge technology, we’ll deliver tailored learning experiences and engage students across diverse settings.

Career development centres, faculty training programmes, DS-AI-ML capacity building, and incubation centres are some of examples of how we would work with institutions across the world.

One of our USPs or core strengths is the active community engagement and outreach programs striving to foster a sense of support and collaboration. Our objective is to contribute to enhanced academic outcomes by providing supplementary resources, exam preparation, and career guidance for students in Mauritius.

3. Can you share with us about future tie-ups and partnerships with local institutions to make the launch a win-win proposal set against Career Launcher deemed to be a big milestone in the local education landscape?

CACS’s collaboration with local institutions is driven by a shared vision of empowering students for successful academic and professional journeys. Our focus is built on personalized profile building, strategic online presence, and comprehensive admission consulting that reflects our unwavering commitment to helping students make informed decisions while at the same time standing out in competitive academic and professional landscapes.

We are enthusiastic about establishing mutually beneficial partnerships with local institutions and helping in their capacity building across cutting-edge areas including machine learning and AI, online distance education, and career development centres. Reason is that we view them as essential and valued collaborators in the journey toward transforming the local education landscape.

4. How does Career Launcher cater to the growing academic needs in Mauritius taking into account there is a huge number of private academic institutions mushrooming on the local landscape?

5. As Career Launcher has been unveiled in Mauritius, will the successful operational partnership model be similar to India through initiatives such as Career Blockchain? Are there plans to offer study materials and guidance as well as online resources as part of the initial offerings?

As CACL unveils Career Launcher in Mauritius, we are excited to bring a successful operational partnership model, akin to our initiatives in India, including the innovative Career Blockchain. Our plans encompass providing comprehensive study materials, expert guidance, and a wealth of online resources as part of our initial offerings.

This commitment reflects our dedication to delivering a holistic and technologically advanced educational experience to students in Mauritius, aligning with the successful operational models that have made Career Launcher a trusted and leading brand name in the field of education.

6. Recently Career Launcher launched the CL Olympiad a scholastic test aiming to spur excellence and critical thinking among students from grades 8-12 showcasing Mathematics, Science, English and Aptitude. In terms of a holistic approach to education, are there plans to bring it locally to make learning fun?

Building on the success of the CL Olympiad defined as a scholastic test designed to promote excellence and critical thinking in students from grades 8-12, Career Launcher is actively exploring the possibility of introducing this innovative initiative in Mauritius to the benefit of Form 3 to Form 6 students. The CL Olympiad encompasses diverse subjects, including Mathematics, Science, English, and Aptitude, providing a comprehensive platform for students to showcase and enhance their academic skills.

By considering the local implementation of the CL Olympiad, we aim to infuse an element of fun into the learning experience while fostering a love for education and encouraging students on the local shores to excel across multiple disciplines.

7. Career Launcher is already present across several parts in East Africa and the Middle East for that matter. Having served as a Partner with the Big Four how do you plan to leverage your incredible experience to foster collaboration and mutual benefit between the well-entrenched CL in the region and Mauritius?

As one of the founding Directors of CA Counselling Services Ltd (CACS) with a background as a Partner with the Big Four, my experience helps to uniquely position our brand to foster collaborations with Career Launcher in Mauritius.

Drawing on my extensive experience in working with industry leaders, I plan to inject strategic insights, innovative approaches, and a deep understanding of global educational trends designed to enhance the collaborative efforts between CACS and Career Launcher. This collaboration aims to leverage the collective expertise of both entities, providing students in Mauritius with a transformative and globally relevant educational experience.
