CIEL Textile’s companies in India join the Reverse Resources platform

CIEL Textile has taken another step forward in its commitment to responsible business practices. Three of its companies in India, namely, Aquarelle, Tropic, and Laguna, have entered into a partnership with Reverse Resources (RR). This key partner, recognized by the leading textile industry players, uses digital tools to promote traceability and transparency, unlocking the value of textile waste. CIEL Textile’s factories join the RR platform regrouping over 600 stakeholders across the textile value chain, actively contributing to the circular economy through the exchange of data and streamlining of the textile waste supply chain.

“This partnership perfectly aligns with our sustainability strategy,” shares Eric Dorchies, CEO of CIEL Textile. “At CIEL Textile, our target is to divert 90% of our waste towards recycling by 2025 and 100% by 2030. In this context, we have successfully initiated a waste classification process, and this partnership seamlessly integrates with our objective,” he says. “Beyond its innovative features, Reverse Resources’ platform champions a key element in our approach: traceability. By transparently tracking our materials, we can identify opportunities to improve efficiency throughout a product’s lifecycle, ultimately reducing its environmental impact. We firmly believe that traceability and transparency are essential in ensuring the credibility and compliance of any responsible textile manufacturer.” he continues.

Nin Castle, Co-Founder, Lead of Recycling and Chief Project Officer at Reverse Resources, added: “It is fantastic to see how forward-thinking manufacturing groups like CIEL Textile are, understanding that their textile waste is actually a resource and taking active steps to support the emerging textile-to-textile recycling industry whilst offering unique circular production processes to their customers.”

Reverse Resources’ digital platform connects various stakeholders in the chain, including manufacturers, fashion brands, waste handlers, sorters, and recyclers. Through a comprehensive mapping of textile waste flows, these stakeholders can track waste materials from their initial use to their transformation into new resources, enabling them to make more informed decisions. This visibility offers manufacturers valuable insights into their textile waste, empowering them to engage with service providers offering optimal recycling solutions, while recyclers gain access to traceable textile waste that adheres to their technical specifications.

For fashion brands, the RR tool enables visibility and traceability of the textile waste generated within their supply chain. This empowers brands to identify recycling opportunities and obtain third-party verification for closed-loop recycling activities.

Reverse Resources collaborates with a diverse range of stakeholders, including renowned brands and industry associations, such as the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), to improve the social and environmental compliance of textile waste management within the industry. Eric Dorchies further added on the importance of multi-party collaboration, saying, “At CIEL Textile, we firmly believe that only collective efforts will enable responsible waste management and a seamless transition to a circular economy. We remain committed to maintaining lasting relationships with our partners. We invite others to join us in this initiative, working together to collectively shape a more sustainable and responsible future for the fashion industry.”
