The South African Chamber of Commerce in Mauritius is pleased to announce its partnership with the Economic Development Board (EDB) for an interactive session aimed at providing valuable insights and opportunities to its members. The session, held on 26 February at the EDB offices in Ebene, featured discussions on various topics crucial for business growth and development.
The objectives of the interactive session included covering new developments within the EDB, highlighting investment opportunities in trade sectors and residential developments, exploring permit and settlement opportunities, discussing agro developments and new governmental schemes, addressing updates in the financial sector and new governance, and shedding light on properties and retirement medical facilities and schemes.
Richard Robinson, Board Member at the South African Chamber of Commerce in Mauritius, expressed his enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “We are delighted to partner with the Economic Development Board for this interactive session. It is essential for our members to stay informed about new developments and investment opportunities in Mauritius, and this session provided valuable insights to help them navigate the business landscape effectively.”
Mr. Sachin Mohabeer, Deputy CEO at the EDB Mauritius had set the stage with a presentation outlining the new development strategy of Mauritius which builds upon its already solid business ecosystem. The country boasts a business-friendly environment, an excellent ease of doing business ratings, and a basket of well-thought incentives to encourage investors to establish their businesses in the country. Mauritius also serves as a strategic springboard for investors looking to expand their footprint into Africa, particularly through the Mauritius Financial Services Sector (MIFC) and the network of agreements with African countries which facilitates market access and fosters opportunities for investment across the continent.
The event also saw the attendance of Dr. Hlamalani Nelly MANZINI, the High Commissioner of South Africa in Mauritius, who commended the initiative for facilitating dialogue and collaboration between South African businesses and Mauritian authorities.
Our sincere thanks to our strategic partners: Investec, ENSafrica, Stewards Invesment Capital and Sanlam.
