Following the largest 5G network in Mauritius, Emtel, one of the leading telecommunications service providers, has deployed its 5G network in Rodrigues since April 1, 2024, thus extending connectivity to bring more people and businesses closer to the digital economy. A ceremony to officially launch 5G was held on Thursday, April 18, at Les Cocotiers Hotel in Anse aux Anglais. Several representatives from the company attended the event, including Chief Technology Officer Avinash Chettiar. Although unable to attend in person, Emtel CEO Kresh Goomany addressed the audience virtually.

With 5G, our subscribers benefit from an enhanced, faster, and more powerful high-speed connection, thus allowing Rodrigues to benefit from cutting-edge technology. Although the official launch is taking place today, on April 18, our 5G network has been available since April 1, 2024. Therefore, Emtel customers have been enjoying 5G since that date,” said Kresh Goomany.
