Mixa, renowned for its expertise in sensitive skincare, has launched its new range, Mixa Expert Peau Sensible, aimed at addressing the evolving needs of individuals with sensitive skin. The event, organised by BrandActiv, took place at the Labourdonnais Waterfront Hotel, gathering key partners from the distribution sector, healthcare professionals, pharmaceutical representatives, influencers, and special guests.
Created in 1924 by a pharmacist, Mixa has built a reputation for effectively caring for sensitive skin through formulations tested under medical supervision. The new Mixa Expert Peau Sensible range continues this legacy with products developed to meet the specific needs of sensitive skin. Each product is designed to minimise allergy risks with hypoallergenic formulas containing a reduced list of ingredients.
The range comprises three main product lines:
- Mixa Ceramide Protection: Designed for very dry skin, this product strengthens the skin barrier, offering protection against severe dryness, temperature variations, and pollution.
- Mixa Cica Repair: Provides long-lasting repair for very dry and fragile skin, smoothing rough patches.
- Mixa Panthenol Comfort: Calms sensations of irritation, dryness, and redness for very dry and reactive skin.
BrandActiv, the exclusive distributor of Mixa for over 20 years, emphasises the quality and accessibility of this new range. Norbert Jean, Head of Personal & Home Care at BrandActiv, expressed enthusiasm, stating, “With the new Mixa Expert Peaux Sensibles range, we offer quality products and reaffirm our commitment to providing accessible skincare solutions.”
Deborah Lemarchand, Brand Manager of L’Oréal Paris at BrandActiv, highlighted the unique solutions offered by Mixa Expert Peaux Sensibles to meet consumer needs. The launch event included an interactive session featuring dermatologist Karishma Babajee, who underscored the efficacy of key ingredients like panthenol and urea in protecting and repairing skin exposed to Mauritius’ climatic conditions and treating skin issues such as stretch marks.
Interview with Sheila Dumas, Founder of Heritage Skin Care Paris
Platform Africa caught up with Sheila Dumas, Founder of Heritage Skin Care Paris, to discuss the insights gained from the panel discussion and how current perspectives might influence future product developments.
Sheila emphasised the increasing awareness of sensitive skin and the importance of providing comfort to it. “The main takeaways from the discussion, especially on the evolving needs for skincare, include the increased awareness of sensitive skin and the importance of conveying how we can provide comfort to our skin,” she said. Sheila highlighted that skin affected by an unsuitable skincare routine, hormonal changes, stress, or pollution needs special care. She praised EPS Mixa’s development of a sensitive skin range that is accessible to the whole family, noting that “this innovative range meets the specific expectations and needs of customers.”
Reflecting on Heritage Skin Care Paris’ approach, Sheila described it as a care workshop prioritising a personalised approach to enhance skin and self-esteem. “We have designed treatments specifically adapted to each moment of your skin, considering your personal chronobiology,” she explained. Their method includes a thorough evaluation to determine the skin’s deficiencies or specific demands, followed by a critical step of preparing the epidermis. Sheila stated, “We establish the ‘treatment’ in collaboration with the client, choosing products based on the signals the skin sends at each moment.”
Sheila expressed her openness to exploring innovative product developments, constantly seeking the most neutral, pure, and respectful ingredients for the skin. “I often say that the skin is our envelope, our capital, reflecting our inner selves. Taking care of it is not just a luxury; it’s a duty!” Her commitment to personalised, innovative skincare reflects a deep understanding of sensitive skin’s unique needs.
