API Forum in Mauritius: Towards a Sustainable and Innovative Future for Real Estate Investment in Africa

The 2024 edition of the API Forum in Mauritius focuses on sustainable development, technological innovation, and real estate investment opportunities in Africa, bringing together over 350 investors to discuss trends and future prospects.

The 2024 edition of the Annual Real Estate Investment Forum in Mauritius, organized by the API (Africa Property Investment), proved to be a crucial event for both local and international investors. Held on 13 June at the prestigious InterContinental Mauritius Resort Balaclava Fort, this event attracted the attention of 350 participants, 70% of whom were established players in the region.

Under the theme “Leading the Future – Building Tomorrow’s Africa,” this forum highlighted the central role of the Mauritian real estate sector in building a sustainable future for the African continent. With more than 60 renowned speakers, API Mauritius 2024 established itself as a prime platform for discussing major development issues.

This year’s discussions focused on the impact of global dynamics on demand and the creation of opportunities in the real estate sector. Emphasis was also placed on the crucial role of artificial intelligence and technology, as well as perspectives on urban regeneration and the integration of public space design to promote sustainable development.

Additionally, the conference expanded its scope to explore the hospitality market and coastal activities in the region, highlighting destinations such as Mauritius, Zanzibar, Madagascar, Seychelles, Maldives, and Comoros. The discussions showcased opportunities for international brands to invest in these growing markets.

Topics such as retirement housing opportunities in Mauritius and the emergence of luxury in the travel sector were also addressed. Lastly, the increasing importance of aparthotels, short-term rentals, and residences was examined in response to the evolving needs of travelers.

The Annual Real Estate Investment Forum in Mauritius, supported for the second time by JLL, left a significant mark as a major catalyst for discussions on sustainable development, innovation, and technology in the real estate sector in Africa.

As a recurring sponsor of the event, “Mauritius and the Indian Ocean islands are essential markets in our expansion strategy, reflecting our commitment to growth in key regions. Participating in and sponsoring the API Mauritius event underscores our determination to foster strong partnerships and explore new opportunities in the Indian Ocean region. By engaging with industry leaders and investors here, we aim to stimulate innovative developments and strengthen our presence in this dynamic market,” stated Daniel Trappler, Senior Director Development Sub-Sahara Africa at Radisson Hotel Group.

Nicolas Vaudin, Managing Director of Lavastone Properties Ltd, also expressed pride in supporting this event: “This is a unique opportunity to connect with the African real estate industry and gain valuable insights. By encouraging expertise and collaboration, we aim to play a significant role in improving the sector. This event allows us not only to build strong relationships but also to contribute to a thriving business ecosystem.
