“Sensitivity” – Handmade products by the “Visually Impaired community”.
“Sensitivity”, was not just an exhibition; it was organised by “Changemakers” (they prefer to be called) to enhance the self esteem and dignity of the differently gifted kids and individuals. The exhibition took place on Saturday morning on June 22, 2024 at Lizie Dan La Main school, curepipe.
“Sensitivity” displayed range of various household and office products crafted from ‘Rattan’. These items are carefully handcrafted by the individuals, who have devoted years to learning and mastering their craft, despite of their challenges.
Additionally, an ongoing demo session was arranged for attendees to observe the process of beautifully and efficiently crafted products, it indeed left people speechless with their skills.
The main aim of organising the event of “Sensitivity” was to promote the products crafted by these special children and raise awareness that supporting them doesn’t require going out of one’s way to purchase useful items, it is simply a mindset of supporting fellow human beings.
Mr Azad Chutkai, Vice President of Lizie Dan La Main, welcomed all the guests and attendees and appreciated for devoting their time to the event. He also extended his warm wishes to Changemakers.
Event commenced with support of Changemakers serving the Indian lunch to the residents, included young kinds, their caregivers and school staff. Everyone relished the Indian meal, complete with Indian desert. Before eating, the children charmingly said a prayer together, as they do daily, a gesture that deeply touched many hearts of attendees.
The children organised a cultural program featuring singing, dancing, saga and instrumental music, showcasing their talent and creativity. It left a lasting impression, overwhelming everyone with their enthusiasm and talent. The heartfelt performance touched the audience deeply and brought joy to all who attended the program.
Cultural program was followed by the exhibition, featuring various crafted products were exhibited to purchase and future orders. Many attendees eagerly queued up to place orders and purchase these unique products. The enthusiasm was evident from both ends.
Like-minded individuals, who are committed to support both, society, and talented community were present. All attendees expressed appreciation for the enthusiasm and talent of the students, and they assured the ongoing support to the school.
Overall, Sensitivity achieved success, and as Changemakers, we extend our best wishes for their future endeavours, hoping for continued support and contribution. We would also like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all attendees who spare time to encourage the event and participated wholeheartedly.
The best gift we can offer to them is acknowledgement and empowerment! Thank you Platform Africa, we are truly grateful to you.
