The Art of Living Foundation (Mauritius) is pleased to announce the visit of Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar to Mauritius from September 3rd to September 7th, 2024, after 18 years.
Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar is a global spiritual leader, humanitarian, and peace ambassador and the founder of The Art of Living. He has played a significant role in mediating conflicts and promoting peace across the world, earning the respect of leaders and communities in over 180 countries. His teachings and initiatives have transformed the lives of millions, and his visit to Mauritius reflects his unwavering commitment to the well-being and harmony of the people of this island.
At the core of the teachings of the Art of Living is the Sudarshan Kriya Yoga (SKY), a powerful rhythmic breathing technique taught in the “Happiness Programs”. This technique harmonises the body, mind, and emotions, helping participants manage stress and improve overall well-being.
The Art of Living has two main centres in Mauritius, located at Wooton, Curepipe and Goodlands.These centres are hubs of learning and community engagement, fostering a culture of peace and harmony. Over 100 volunteers have been trained as Art of Living teachers. They instruct participants about this transformative practice, amongst others, across the island. The Art of Living offers courses for people of all ages and backgrounds, including corporates and educational institutions amongst others.
In Mauritius, the Art of Living Foundation was created in 1997 and initially registered under the Registrar of Associations. Since 2007, the organization is a Charitable Trust registered with the Financial Services Commission (FSC) and the Mauritius Council of Social Service (MACOSS) as a non-governmental organization.
Gurudev’s visit will feature two significant events:
1. On the 4th of September, a public event will be held at the Swami Vivekananda International Conference Centre (SVICC), Pailles. The theme will be “Our Island Celebrates: An Evening of Wisdom and Music with Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar”. This main public event will be an extraordinary evening filled with music, meditation, and insightful teachings from Gurudev, bringing together people from all walks of life in celebration of unity and peace.
During the event, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be exchanged between the Art of Living Foundation (Mauritius) and the Mauritius Prison Service for the deployment of the Prison Program which has already been introduced in Mauritius since two years.

2. The second event will take place on the 7th of September at the Hilton Mauritius Resort & Spa at Flic-en-Flac. This meeting with Gurudev is titled “The Journey Within: Inner Balance, Outer Success”.
This event is designed for individuals, leaders and entrepreneurs amongst others seeking to deepen their inner journey and achieve outer success. Gurudev will guide participants through practices and wisdom to cultivate inner peace and fulfillment.

AOLF Prison Program
The AOLF Prison Program operates in more than 65 countries, including Mauritius. As Gurudev states: “If people get sick, we take them to the hospital and give them the right medicine to get better. If people’s behavior is sick, we bring them to the prison, but we forget the medicines.” The Prison Program (Stress Management and Rehabilitation Training) teaches prisoners how to manage their stress, aggression, and trauma, building a foundation for a new life. It has been introduced in countries such Mexico, Denmark, USA, India, South Africa, Kenya and Uganda.
In Mauritius, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be signed with the Mauritius Prison Service during Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s visit in order to deploy the Prison Smart Program which has already been introduced.
World Culture Festival and Sustainable Development
The Art of Living Foundation’s edition of the World Culture Festival 2023 was held in Washington D.C, and included 60 performances by over 17,000 artists, musicians, and dancers representing cultures from every corner of the globe. The President of the Republic of Mauritius, His Excellency Mr Prithvirajsing Roopun G.C.S.K., was among the distinguished chief guests invited from 180+ countries.
During the event, Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar furthermore announced the plantation of 42 million trees, adding to the 81 million trees already planted worldwide as part of its sustainable development initiatives.
