The South African Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual Achiever Awards Dinner on Thursday, 17 October 2024, at Le Suffren Marina and Resort. This prestigious event, themed “Nautical Chic,” celebrated outstanding businesses that have demonstrated exceptional growth, performance, company culture, and sustainability initiatives.

The awards were judged by an independent panel comprising key business leaders, including Aneesa Mungroo, Partner at KPMG, and Jamie Bold, Co-Founder CFO Insights Mauritius. All entries have been carefully assessed and winners were selected based on a rigorous evaluation of their achievements and contributions. The criteria used to assess the participants covered the key factors contributing to the companies’ success, innovation and creativity in the workspace, CSR and sustainability initiatives, employee satisfaction, development and engagement initiatives, growth and performance, environmental impact as well as use of local products or contribution to local labels and bilateral trade between South Africa and Mauritius.
Speaking at the event, Bilal Adam, President of the South African Chamber of Commerce, shared his thoughts on the occasion: “The South African Chamber of Commerce has always played a key role in promoting strong business ties between South Africa and Mauritius, serving as a bridge for collaboration, growth, and innovation. Tonight’s awards are a reflection of the thriving business community that exists between our two nations. I congratulate ABSA, Investec, Workshop 17, and ENS Africa for their exceptional achievements. They are key examples of leadership, resilience, and commitment to sustainable growth, and we are proud to honor them this evening.”
The event was graced by notable attendees, including Dr Hlamalani Nelly Manzini, the High Commissioner of South Africa to Mauritius, who expressed her admiration for the strong ties between South Africa and Mauritius.
