Emtel partners with Women in Tech to promote women in technology

Event to be held on International’s Women’s Day celebrates the ingenuity and determination of women and girls in science.

On the occasion of International Women’s Day on 8 March, Emtel is proud to sponsor the Women in Tech roundtable by hosting it at its Innovation Centre in Ébène. Organised by Women in Tech Mauritius, a non-profit platform, this event highlights women making significant advances in the technology sector.

Thus, Women in Tech will bring together more than 50 professionals and other tech enthusiasts for an immersive day dedicated to knowledge sharing, networking and the empowerment of women in the sector. Geshna Ballgobin, Project Manager and Engineer at Emtel, as well as Partnership Manager of Women in Tech, will also participate in a panel organised as part of these celebrations, bringing to the table her expertise and commitment for a more inclusive industry.

The underrepresentation of women in technology is a challenge that we must collectively address. By encouraging girls from school, providing them with inspiring role models and facilitating access to these careers, we are paving the way for a more balanced and innovative industry.” she said.

As part of its commitment to diversity and inclusion, Emtel actively supports women in STEM, encouraging young girls to pursue these paths from school and providing ongoing support to women who succeed in the technology field. In fact, last year, Emtel organised a workshop in collaboration with the Rajiv Gandhi Science Centre to raise awareness among young girls and boys about artificial intelligence and the career opportunities in this field.

Kresh Goomany, Chief Executive Officer of Emtel said: “Promoting women in tech is essential to ensure sustainable innovation and inclusive growth. Encouraging diversity in tech also means investing in the innovation of tomorrow. At Emtel, we are proud to support Women in Tech Mauritius and help pave the way for a more inclusive industry, where women can give full expression to their talent and leadership skills.
