The 2025 edition of API Mauritius was a resounding success, both in terms of participation and the quality of discussions. This flagship forum for real estate professionals, organised by API Events, brought together more than 300 participants under the theme A Resilient Dawn. The goal was to explore emerging trends and collectively reflect on the future of the sector. The event brought together international investors, developers, public decision-makers, pension fund managers, as well as representatives from financial institutions and advisory firms across the region and continent. It took place on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at the Intercontinental Hotel in Balaclava.
“API Mauritius 2025 allowed real estate professionals to delve into the dynamics shaping the future of the real estate sector in Mauritius and the Indian Ocean region. Several key topics were explored, from co-development partnerships and the use of artificial intelligence in asset management, to green finance and new housing models. Discussions also focused on the impact of recent budget measures on the sector. The strong turnout for this third edition highlights the relevance of this forum in a sector poised for transformation,” said Murray Anderson-Ogle, Commercial and Marketing Director at API Events.

Working sessions were dedicated to the hospitality, residential and commercial sectors, with a special focus on the rise of mixed-use and intergenerational developments, urban regeneration, and Mauritius’s growing appeal for large-scale foreign investments. The Hon. Jean Sydney Pierre, Deputy Minister of Tourism, took part in a conversation with real estate expert Kevin Teeroovengadum on the future of the tourism sector. Their exchange shed light on the key factors driving Mauritius’s attractiveness as a destination, while underlining the need to develop a hotel offering aligned with evolving traveller expectations.
The day was marked by several themed presentations, notably on the current economic outlook, offering a clear-eyed perspective on the ongoing changes within the African real estate market. Discussions also addressed new investment models, particularly in emerging sectors such as logistics, student housing, and green bonds.
Multiple panel discussions addressed key issues, enabling debate around Mauritius’s sustainable economic growth towards 2040, the importance of co-development in delivering large-scale projects, and the real-world impact of artificial intelligence on the real estate value chain. Future housing and urban planning needs were also discussed. The situation in the Middle East and its ripple effects on the Gulf region were also analysed, particularly with regard to the opportunities it could create for real estate and luxury hospitality in Mauritius.
More than just a forum, API Mauritius 2025 established itself as a true catalyst for projects, reinforcing Mauritius’s role as a strategic hub between Africa, Asia, and the Gulf.
