Fundsmith Kickboxing Club wins third place at Interclubs Championship

The Fundsmith Kickboxing Club, supported by leading international fund manager and kickboxing enthusiast Terry Smith, won third place at the Interclubs Championship held at the Bel-Air State Secondary School on 29 June 2025.

The competition brought together participants from 9 clubs from across the island, where the Fundsmith Kickboxing Club, based in Rose Hill, was represented by young athletes Megane Prosper, Jaden Drack, Arael Elise and Tessy Chu Yuk Yean.

The club has been supported by Terry Smith since 2019, and in 2020 he bought new premises for the exclusive use of the club, which opened in June that year. He also purchased and donated world class equipment for the club, including a training ring, kick bags and other materials, all of which he shipped to Mauritius from the UK.

Commenting on the results, Terry Smith said:

“As a strong supporter of our local kickboxing athletes, I would like to congratulate all of our participants from the Fundsmith Kickboxing Club on their success in the Interclubs Championship. I have always enjoyed opportunities to train myself, having developed a passion for sports such as boxing and kickboxing while growing up in the East End of London, and I am extremely proud of their achievements and commitment to the sport.”

Sharing his perspective as coach of the Fundsmith Boxing Club, Karl Prosper said:

“We are thrilled to have won third place in the Interclubs Championship. It was a tough competition but we had put a lot of effort into our training which really paid off on the day. We are very grateful to Mr Smith for all the support which he has extended to us over the years, which includes a well-equipped gym for our athletes to keep on training and improving.”
