The Ministry of Youth and Sports, in a vibrant collaboration with the Municipality of Beau-Bassin/Rose-Hill, the Mauritius Recreation Council and the Local Organising Committee for International Choir Competitions 2025, successfully orchestrated a truly unforgettable celebration of International Music Day.
Under the inspiring theme “Viv Nou Lamizik”, held from 5:30 PM to 10:00 PM, captivated attendees with a breathtaking showcase of Mauritius’s rich musical tapestry. From lively contemporary acts to soulful traditional performances, dynamic dance displays, captivating choral harmonies, and heartfelt tributes to our nation’s iconic musicians, the evening was a testament to the unifying power of music.
The festivities commenced with an opening ceremony, graced by the presence of the Honourable, Mr Deven Nagalingum, Minister of Youth and Sports, the Honourable, Mr Sydney Pierre, Junior Minister of Tourism alongside the welcoming remarks from Mrs. M.G.R. BATOUR, Mayor of Beau-Bassin/Rose-Hill.
This event at Plaza Rose-Hill followed closely on the heels of the official 100-day countdown launch for the African Asia Pacific Choir Games 2025, which was successfully held on 19th June 2025, at the Municipal City Council of Port Louis. Both events underscore the growing excitement and meticulous preparations underway for this landmark international choral festival.
A significant highlight of the evening was the special introduction of choirs slated to participate in the upcoming African Asia Pacific Choir Games 2025. This exclusive preview offered the public a harmonious glimpse into the international musical talent that will converge in Mauritius from 27th September to 5th October 2025.
