MCB proudly announces strategic partnerships with Middlesex University and Charles Telfair Education. This collaboration, which is a landmark first for MCB, marks a significant milestone in our commitment to enhancing educational opportunities and fostering academic excellence.
A win-win situation
The rationale behind this partnership is to leverage the strengths of each institution to provide students with a comprehensive and globally recognized education. By combining MCB’s industry expertise with the academic prowess of Middlesex University and Charles Telfair Education, we aim to foster a dynamic learning environment that prepares students for the challenges of the modern world. Students that excel across various fields of study will be given access to unique employment opportunities, creating a win-win situation for universities, students, and MCB.

MCB, a long-standing education partner
Education is the cornerstone of a thriving society. The partnership with Middlesex University and Charles Telfair is in direct line with MCB’s raison d’être, Success Beyond Numbers, which advocates Mauritians’ individual and collective well-being. MCB being a staunch supporter of the education sector of the country, has been deeply involved in setting up educational initiatives for the country, such as the MCB Foundation Scholarship, introduced in 1988, which allows the HSC student ranked just after the economics sector laureates to benefit from fully paid studies abroad. Moreover, every year since 2000, a student from Rodrigues has benefited from a University of Mauritius Scholarship. This scheme finances the full-time course and living expenses for three years.
Julian Ernest, Manager, Talent Centre of Excellence, MCB: “In today’s fast-paced and interconnected world, the relationship between academia and industry has never been more important. This partnership brings access to fresh talent, research expertise, and the opportunity to shape the next generation of finance professionals – individuals who are skilled, ethically grounded, and socially responsible.”
Professor Mari Jansen Van Rensburg, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Middlesex University, Director, Middlesex University Mauritius: “Industry partnerships are vital to shaping future talent and enhancing practical learning. Our collaboration with MCB reflects a shared commitment to excellence in talent development, reinforced by their continued support through co-curricular events, guest lectures, and talent acquisition efforts. At Middlesex University, as an anchor institution in Mauritius, we are dedicated to producing career-ready graduates.
Collaborations like this bridge the gap between higher education and industry, fostering essential skills and building a strong pipeline of professionals for the future.
Dr. Sarita Hardin-Ramanan, Head, Faculty of Accounting, Finance, Law and IT, Charles Telfair Education: “This MoU between Charles Telfair Education (Curtin Mauritius) and the Mauritius Commercial Bank symbolises the excellent partnership between the university and the MCB. Not only does this initiative open pathways for workplace experience and future employment but it also alleviates the financial burden of deserving candidates. We would like to thank the MCB for their commitment to education and graduate work readiness and look forward to a lasting collaboration in shaping the next generation of professionals.”
