Financial Services: Minister Jeetun identifies India, Africa as key enablers of growth

GIS – 31 July 2025: Considered as a global financial and risk advisory firm, Kroll has officially launched its permanent office in Mauritius, strengthening its commitment to delivering risk and financial advisory services in the region. This strategic move reflects the firm’s confidence in Mauritius’ robust financial ecosystem and its role as a key international financial centre linking Africa, Asia, and India.

The Kroll Leaders Forum was held on July 30 in Ebène, themed “Unlocking Opportunity in Mauritius’ Changing Offshore Landscape,” which brought together industry experts in the presence of the Minister of Financial Services and Economic Planning, Dr. Jyoti Jeetun, and Managing Director, Restructuring and Country Head of Kroll Mauritius, Luvy Thacoor. The forum discussed key topics such as cross-border insolvency, legal cooperation to fund maturity, and global business sentiment.

In her address, Dr Jeetun stated that Kroll’s presence in Mauritius significantly strengthens the financial sector by providing essential support for resilience, recovery, and sustainable growth. She recalled the Government’s vision to diversify financial services, enhance the ease of doing business, and reinforce Mauritius’ footprint in international markets. The Minister also identified India and Africa as major growth frontiers, while pointing to opportunities in FinTech, sustainable finance, and wealth management solutions.

Dr Jeetun also addressed challenges posed by the current global environment, marked by economic volatility, geopolitical uncertainty, and rapid disruption. In such circumstances, she said, firms such as Kroll play a crucial role by providing clarity, supporting businesses in navigating uncertainty, and helping them build resilience. She described Kroll as more than a restructuring and financial advisory firm, but rather a partner in business transformation, assisting companies in recovery, managing complex transactions, and adapting to evolving regulations.

Minister Jeetun emphasised the importance of upskilling local talent, engaging the diaspora, and attracting international expertise to bridge the sector’s skills gap.
