NIC Group, a major public institution in insurance and financial services in Mauritius, has entered a strategic partnership with Hollard Health International, a South African specialist in international health insurance, to launch “Hollard Health” coverage – a premium health insurance solution tailored for multinational corporations, conglomerates, expatriates and professionals operating in Mauritius.
This new offering introduces world-class medical protection alongside a digital wellbeing platform, aiming to balance lifestyle habits and the overall wellness of professionals and executives. It further enhances Mauritius’ appeal as a preferred destination for international investment and global talent.
Meeting a Strategic Market Need
With the continuous growth in the number of international companies establishing themselves in Mauritius, the demand for premium cross-border health solutions is becoming a strategic priority.
According to Dr Rishi Sookdawoor, Executive Director of NIC Group, this product is a key asset for companies employing overseas talent:
“We are proud to launch this innovative product in partnership with Hollard Health International. This project reflects our commitment to creating tangible value for both businesses and individuals. By enabling companies to meet the needs of their employees and thus protect and retain their human capital, we are contributing to business continuity in an interconnected world.”
Mr Santosh Gujadhur, Chairman of the NIC Group Board of Directors, added:
“We are expanding the capabilities of our insurance ecosystem with global expertise and cutting-edge health insurance management platforms, while equipping both local and international companies with an innovative solution to protect key staff, attract and retain talent in a competitive global market.”

Ministerial Support and Strategic Alignment
The launch was officially supported by the Honourable Minister of Financial Services and Economic Planning, Dr Jyoti Jeetun, who welcomed the initiative as a major step forward in strengthening Mauritius’ financial services sector.
The Honourable Minister noted: “This partnership between NIC Group and Hollard Health strengthens our position as a credible international financial centre. As Mauritius continues to attract more international businesses and professionals, it is essential to provide them with healthcare solutions that meet their expectations and are connected to the global network. This is a great example of innovation serving our national ambitions, and this strategic partnership also strengthens our ties with the African continent.”
Speaking at the event, she further elaborated that “this is more than a new offering. It is an enabler, one that bridges the gap in our insurance ecosystem by providing access to world class health coverage to the business community and foreign partners operating in Mauritius. It enhances their well being by providing them with exclusive healthcare insurance coverage while promoting a wellness culture advocating healthy lifestyle choices through nutrition, exercise and proactive management of chronic conditions. The wellness and smart digital health tool being introduced will go a long way towards a culture of digital health management with real time monitoring of key health metrics and 24/7 online doctor consultations”.
HealthMov – A Digital Platform for Wellbeing
In addition to health coverage, members will benefit from HealthMov, a digital wellness app developed by Hollard Health International, offering:
- Real-time health and fitness tracking
- Personalised wellness journeys and health coaching
- Remote medical consultations and second opinions
- Risk-profile-adapted preventive resources
This approach positions the NIC–Hollard Health partnership as a proactive, innovative wellness alliance that goes far beyond the traditional role of insurance providers.

A Launch Dedicated to Wellbeing
To make the launch a truly unique event, guests also attended an inspiring corporate wellness talk led by Dr Anouchka Sooriamoorthy, PhD in philosophy, leadership trainer, and speaker specialising in critical thinking in the workplace and professional life.
Her intervention highlighted the increasing importance of mental and emotional wellbeing in sustainable organisational performance, underlining the vital role of professions that provide a protective framework—such as the insurance industry.
