The Indian Business Council (IBC) is honoured to announce that legendary Indian tennis player and International Tennis Hall of Fame inductee, Mr Leander Paes, will visit Mauritius from 30th August to 5th September 2025.

He also holds the record for the most doubles wins in the Davis Cup. His impressive career highlights include winning Wimbledon titles across three different decades, a feat achieved by only one other man in the Open era, and forming one-half of the first pair to reach all four Grand Slam finals in the same calendar year (1999) with his partner, Mahesh Bhupathi. His visit, organised by the IBC, presents a unique opportunity for the local community and tennis enthusiasts to engage with one of the most decorated athletes in Indian history.
The Indian Business Council, known as “IBC,” was established in Mauritius in 2021 with the mission of “connecting economies through business.” Its primary goal is to enhance trade and business relationships between Mauritius and India while utilising Mauritius as a strategic hub for conducting business in Africa. Through this organisation, business owners and senior management from both countries have a platform to share their expertise and strengthen their business connections.

The council boasts a robust membership database that includes major Indian public and private sector companies, as well as well-known Mauritian companies and those set up by Indian entrepreneurs. Its members bring extensive experience and knowledge in various fields, including Finance, Banking, Construction, Offshore, M&A, Structuring, Education, Engineering and Technology, IT, AI, Insurance, Hospitality, Travel and Media. This unique experience of understanding India, Mauritius, and Africa sets IBC’s membership apart, placing it well to integrate the business and trade interests of all three regions.
Jayasankar Seshadri, President of IBC Mauritius said: “We are honoured to welcome a legend like Leander Paes to Mauritius. His visit not only celebrates sporting excellence but also underscores the strong and growing connections between India and Mauritius, which is at the very heart of the Indian Business Council’s mission. We believe this event will serve as a powerful catalyst for strengthening our business ties and fostering new opportunities across the region.”
