Stewards Investment Capital is pleased to announce the appointment of Ashfaaq Aboobaker as Head of Investments. Based in Mauritius, Ashfaaq will lead the firm’s portfolio strategy and investment initiatives, bringing with him more than two decades of global financial markets experience to the role.
As part of his new responsibilities, Ashfaaq will oversee multi-asset strategies, investment structuring, and portfolio management with a focus on advancing Stewards’ long-term growth and performance objectives. He will be responsible for developing and implementing asset allocation models for the firm’s funds, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and industry best practices. Ashfaaq will also play a key role in managing and growing relationships with high-net-worth and institutional investors, while driving innovative approaches to attract new mandates. His disciplined approach and deep market connectivity will further strengthen Stewards’ investment capabilities across Mauritius, the U.S., South Africa, and other priority global markets.

Ashfaaq’s career spans leading international banks, hedge funds, and asset management firms, where he started in equity derivatives structuring at Société Générale in Paris, contributing to the pioneering of correlation products. He later joined Superfund Asset Management, latterly as a senior trader, heading the U.S. markets team from Mauritius. In 2011, he joined Vantage Investment Management Ltd., where he managed trading and treasury operations across three funds, played a pivotal role in scaling AUM to USD 1.6 billion, and was appointed Head of Trading in 2021.

He holds a BSc and MSc in Physics from the University of Paris 7, a DESS in Finance from the University of Paris 6, and a Specialised Master in Finance from ESCP Business School.
