ALCHE’s B.O.L.D Summit 2025 celebrates transformative decade of leadership and impact

The African Leadership University (ALU) commemorated its tenth anniversary with a jubilant Decennial celebration in Pamplemousses, Mauritius. The landmark event, hosted from October 29-31 at the African Leadership College of Higher Education (ALCHE), kicked off with the B.O.L.D. Summit (Breaking Ordinary Learning Dimensions).

Over a span of three days defined as ‘groundbreaking’, the summit convened a diverse group of stakeholders, including educators, corporate partners, policy makers, government officials, students, parents, and alumni, all dedicated to exploring how Africa can shape the next transformative decade of learning and work.

The summit comprised of a mix of plenaries, hands-on workshops, insightful alumni dialogues, dynamic panel discussions, and targeted networking sessions, all explored future possibilities on the continent, while at the same time honoring days of ALU’s disruptive impact that saw the celebration culminated in a gala dinner at the historic Ruins of Balaclava, Mauritius in the presence of distinguished figures such as the Head of State His Excellency Mr. Dharambeer Gokhool, G.C.S.K, Founder of the African Leadership Group Fred Swaniker and CEO of African Leadership University Veda Sunassee together with key stakeholders.

Founder of the African Leadership Group, Fred Swaniker, in his keynote address commented: “What the African Leadership Group is creating here in Mauritius is a movement shaping the next generation of innovators, builders, and ethical leaders who will redefine Africa’s place in the world. With our ALCHE campus, we will continue to anchor ourselves in Mauritius’ ambition to become a Knowledge Hub, connecting education, innovation, and leadership across the continent. As we teach our students to ‘Do Hard Things,’ my vision is that by 2030, the island will be recognised as the entrepreneurial heart of Africa’s next transformation, and that our graduates will be among the leaders driving it,”

Over the past decade, the African Leadership Group – through ALC, and now ALCHE has achieved significant milestones: the majority of its graduates secure employment within six months, hundreds of students have launched their own businesses, while alumni entrepreneurs have collectively generated more than 40,000 jobs and raised over USD 12 million in funding.

Anchored in its three pillars – Access, Missions not Majors, and Learning by Doing – the institution replaces passive instruction with experiential learning, internships, and peer-to-peer engagement, ensuring students leave ready to tackle real-world challenges.

The B.O.L.D. Summit 2025 celebrated 10 years of educational excellence and the institution’s commitment to shaping Africa’s next generation of ethical and entrepreneurial leaders. Such a milestone reinforced ALCHE’s mission to prepare students to lead with purpose and with authentic ethical values.
