The winners of the Mauritius Real Estate Awards 2025, hosted by PropertyCloud.mu, were revealed last night during an exclusive black-tie ceremony held at the Intercontinental Resort, Balaclava.
The prestigious gala brought together over 150 leaders hailing from the real estate sector, encompassing industry partners in the presence of the Chief Guest of Honour, Minister of Housing and Land, Honourable Shakeel Mohammed.

In his keynote address, Minister Mohammed called for a Public-Private Partnership to solve the housing crisis. He stressed the severe housing crisis, characterised by 52,000 people awaiting social housing with an average price increase of 23 percent, that marginalizes the middle class.
Faced with this challenge and a lack of government funds, the Minister has urged the need to engage in public-private partnerships (PPP) as a central solution. He proposed that the government offer fiscal advantages and a guaranteed return to developers who invest in the construction of social and affordable housing, even subsidizing the cost of land for young first-time buyers. Furthermore, he solicited the expertise of the private sector to improve the maintenance and management of existing social housing.
“The good days in a country where land is limited and scarce can only be made to last longer when the sun will rise for everyone,” he said.
The Minister also stressed such collaboration where the regulatory stability is indispensable for the prosperity of the real estate sector, extending to the entire population.
