blink, the award-winning FinTech platform by Emtel, hosted a special private cinema experience on 10 December for children from underprivileged backgrounds across the island ahead of the festive seasons.
The initiative forms part of Emtel’s ongoing commitment to community upliftment and creating meaningful experiences for the Mauritian youth.
Emphasising Emtel’s support for community-driven initiatives, Kresh Goomany, Emtel CEO, stated: “Supporting our communities, and especially vulnerable populations, is deeply rooted in Emtel’s values. This collaboration over this festive initiative allowed us to brighten the lives of children who represent the future of Mauritius. Moments like these remind us of the importance of compassion, connection and collective responsibility in shaping lives around us. We can’t imagine a better start to the festive season.”
Held at Star Cinema, Bagatelle, the exclusive screening featured the much-anticipated Zootopia 2, bringing smiles, laughter and excitement to 200 children from various social associations across Mauritius, including:
- The Caritas Solitude team
- The Abercrombie Kids
- The Movement Social d’Ebene
- The Future Hope Kids
- The Association Jeunes Inadaptés de Curepipe;
Making the day even more memorable for the children, a complete cinematic experience was organised, replete with complimentary popcorn, snacks and juice. The movie theatre was fully booked and reserved exclusively for the children, giving them a safe and joyful space to enjoy a movie outing many may not otherwise have access to.
“At blink, we believe in reaching out to the community. Indeed, going beyond cutting-edge FinTech developments that ease lives, to give back to the heart of the community, is an important part of blink’s mission,” said Atul Bhatia, Chief FinTech Officer,. “We are honoured to partner over this festive outing for children who deserve joy, inclusion and opportunities to dream.”
The partnership underscores a shared commitment to social responsibility and supporting vulnerable groups across Mauritius. Together, we aim to continue championing initiatives that uplift and empower local communities.
