Vivo Energy Mauritius strengthens UoM partnership, open doors to depot

Port Louis, March 5: Vivo Energy Mauritius, holding the franchisee of Shell in Mauritius, has opened the doors of its depot in Rochebois to 23 engineering students and 2 teachers hailing from the University of Mauritius (UoM). This immersion day fits into the extension of the Memorandum of Understanding (UoM) inked in 2025 between Shell and the university.

The aim of the partnership between Vivo Energy Mauritius and UoM is to create a stepping stone between the academic universe and the professional world that goes beyond occasional interventions and sponsorship of students, where this year the underlying closeness between both takes a more immersive dimension. It serves as an opportunity for both to observe the functioning of a distribution company and understand the sector’s challenges.

The visit started with the unveiling of security protocols and environmental protection, which form part of the operations as a whole. Vivo Energy Mauritius held a presentation of the company, its values, and commitment in terms of sustainable development before conducting a guided visit of the GPL depot, marked by an informal exchange over lunch.

The students were also able to discuss with graduates of UoM who were recently hired and underwent training within the enterprise, by offering continuity between academics and professional integration.

Managing Director at Vivo Energy Mauritius, Fouad Khfifi, commented:  “The setting of partnerships with universities represents an excellent opportunity for Vivo Energy Mauritius to stay connected with the academic world and to stay committed since inception with high-caliber talents.

The visit has also served as an opportunity for the students to see how security, teamwork, and innovation shape modern enterprises, posing an important step toward anchoring a professional project in reality.

A student shared, “It’s the first time I visited a gas depot and the first thing that struck me is the absolute rigor implemented to security and in each stage of the operations.
