SBM Tower, Port Louis, February 25: The SBM Bank (Mauritius) Ltd has shone brightly on the global stage, where it has bagged the coveted “Best SME Bank in Mauritius”, conferred by the prestigious magazine Global Finance in the context of the Best SME Banks 2026 Awards.
This distinction has recognized the bank’s leading role in supporting small and medium enterprises, its continuous commitment to local entrepreneurs, and its willingness to help support new entrepreneurial projects.
This award lauds the proactive approach of the SBM Bank (Mauritius) Ltd, offering tailor-made solutions, boosting access to finance, and on the back of local support for the development of domestic enterprises.
In 2025, the bank’s team spearheaded a slew of visits across the island with entrepreneurs and micro-entrepreneurs, which has helped buttress dialogue with economic stakeholders to better understand daily challenges and recalibrate the bank’s offerings to better respond to their concrete needs.

This new distinction comes in the wake of the award “Best SME Bank in Mauritius” conferred to the bank during the Asian Banker (TAB) Global Middle East and Africa Awards 2023 and the two awards for Best Bank for SMEs in Mauritius obtained in 2023 and 2024, consecutively, during the prestigious Euromoney Awards for Excellence.
