The Mauritius Cricket Federation (MCF) has formally made a historic and monumental leap as the country has been officially inducted as the 111th member of the International Cricket Council (ICC). This prestigious milestone showcases the island’s official arrival and rising prominence on the world cricket landscape.
This remarkable accomplishment is the result of three years of unwavering dedication, strategic planning and collaborative excellence. The MCF Executive Committee, alongside its players, coaches, volunteers and clubs, has worked tirelessly to elevate local cricket to this international milestone.
Gaining official ICC Membership unlocks global opportunities for Mauritius cricket, including international participation, development programmes, coaching and umpiring education, as well as institutional capacity building.
“Today marks one of the proudest days in the history of Mauritius cricket. ICC Membership is not merely recognition of our work over the past three years—it is the beginning of a new era for our sport. This achievement belongs to every player, coach, volunteer, club, sponsor and supporter who believed in our vision. We remain committed to creating opportunities for every young boy and girl in Mauritius to represent our nation on the international stage,” the President of the Mauritius Cricket Federation, Saleem Bhat commented.
The Mauritius Cricket Federation extends its sincere appreciation to the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Africa Cricket Association (ACA) for their invaluable guidance and support.
The Federation also expresses its heartfelt gratitude to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Government of Mauritius, for its continued encouragement and support towards the development of cricket on the island. The body also thanks the High Commission of India, in particular the Indian High Commissioner, His Excellency Mr. Anurag Srivastava.
The MCF says that it is highly committed to working closely with the ICC, ACA, the Government of Mauritius and our partners to take cricket to greater heights.
