Absa Mauritius has celebrated the certification of 24 colleagues who successfully completed the second cohort of the Absa Wealth Academy. Delivered over five months, the programme included more than 20 hours of training through sessions held every two weeks. It was designed to strengthen colleagues’ wealth management knowledge and their ability to support clients with informed and relevant advice. Through this initiative, the Bank reaffirms its belief that skilled and engaged colleagues are essential to building lasting relationships based on trust and delivering a distinctive client experience.
Absa Mauritius has celebrated the certification of the second cohort of its Absa Wealth Academy, a talent development programme designed to strengthen the skills of colleagues who support clients with their financial and wealth management needs. The first cohort was certified in December 2025.
A total of 24 colleagues received their certification after completing an intensive five-month programme, comprising more than 20 hours of training delivered through sessions held every two weeks. The programme combined technical learning, relationship-building skills and knowledge sharing. This allowed participants to deepen their expertise and strengthen their understanding of the needs of an increasingly informed and discerning client base.
Participants came from different businesses and functions across Absa Mauritius, reflecting the wider role that colleagues across the Bank play in supporting clients. While the programme focused on wealth management, it also encouraged greater collaboration and knowledge sharing across teams.
The Absa Wealth Academy reflects the Bank’s commitment to investing in its people while strengthening its client-centred approach. Absa Mauritius believes that strong client relationships are built through the expertise, commitment and ability of its colleagues to understand each client’s ambitions and provide relevant support.

Olusegun Omoniwa, Interim Head of Wealth at Absa Mauritius, said:
“At Absa, we believe that building lasting client relationships starts with investing in our colleagues. Through the Absa Wealth Academy, we are strengthening both the expertise of our teams and our collective ability to support clients with insight, care and a clear understanding of their needs. This certification marks an important step in our colleagues’ development and reflects our commitment to growing talent from within.”
Beyond technical knowledge, the programme supports a culture of collaboration, continuous learning and excellence across Absa Mauritius. It also responds to the changing needs of clients and the importance of keeping colleagues’ knowledge relevant in a fast-evolving financial services environment.
The Wealth Academy sits alongside Absa Mauritius’ other internal academies, including CIB, Data Science, and Crime and Compliance. Together, these programmes form part of the Bank’s wider investment in developing future-ready skills, supporting career growth and building its internal talent pipeline.
Varoun Jeewooth, Head of Leadership, Learning and Talent, added:
“Our people remain at the heart of our agenda. Through our internal academies, we are creating practical opportunities for colleagues to develop their skills, broaden their knowledge and grow their careers within Absa Mauritius. The diversity of this cohort is particularly encouraging, as it shows that learning can extend beyond a colleague’s current role or area of the Bank. By investing in our people, we are strengthening the Bank and the experience we deliver to our clients.”
This investment in colleague development also supports Absa Mauritius’ position as an employer of choice. The Bank was recognised as a Top Employer 2026 for the second consecutive year in Mauritius and Africa, reflecting its continued focus on learning, career development and a workplace where colleagues can grow.
Through the Absa Wealth Academy and its wider portfolio of internal academies, Absa Mauritius is preparing colleagues for future opportunities while building the skills needed to serve clients with greater insight and care.
