At the historic Ruins of Balaclava, where Mauritius’ past meets the elegance of contemporary hospitality, a new event space is preparing to open its doors. The Orangeraie, a collaboration between Maritim Resort & Spa Mauritius and Impact Production Group, will bring together heritage, five-star hospitality and sophisticated event production from November 2026.
The Orangeraie will offer approximately 800 square metres of flexible event space, designed to accommodate up to 500 guests. Framed in glass and complemented by contemporary flooring, the venue has been conceived as a versatile canvas for events ranging from destination weddings and gala dinners to conferences, corporate celebrations, product launches and private occasions. Air-conditioning will also be available, allowing organisers greater flexibility in designing events around Mauritius’ tropical climate.
Where history becomes a backdrop
Positioned directly opposite the Ruins of Balaclava, The Orangeraie creates an unusual dialogue between Mauritius’ heritage and the demands of the modern events industry. The historic stone ruins provide a sense of place, while the glass architecture introduces a lighter, contemporary aesthetic. Beyond the venue, the resort’s 25-hectare tropical estate becomes part of the experience, offering organisers the opportunity to shape events that move naturally between indoor and outdoor settings. It is a combination that speaks to the changing expectations of destination events. Increasingly, organisers and guests are looking for more than a functional ballroom or conference space. They want atmosphere, character and a sense of discovery.
Two partners, one vision
The new venue brings together two distinct areas of expertise. Maritim Resort & Spa Mauritius contributes the setting, accommodation, culinary offering, resort facilities and, above all, its long-standing experience in hospitality and events. Impact Production Group, a Mauritius-based event production specialist, adds the creative and technical dimension. Its expertise spans event concept and design, audiovisual production, lighting, video mapping, scenography, décor, entertainment and special effects. Themes, décor and styling can be tailored to individual concepts, while technical production and entertainment can be integrated into the design from the outset.
The result is intended to be a seamless journey, from arrival at the resort and accommodation to dining, entertainment and the main event itself. A destination within a destination
The Orangeraie will not operate in isolation. Guests arriving for an event will have access to the wider Maritim experience, including 272 rooms and suites, alongside 17 private villas at Jacaranda managed by Maritim. The resort is also home to 12 restaurants and bars, including the Château Mon Désir and the historic Anno 1743, as well as extensive wellness and leisure facilities.
Building on 35 years of experience
Maritim Resort & Spa Mauritius has spent 35 years building its presence in the island’s wedding, MICE and events landscape. Its existing portfolio already includes a collection of distinctive spaces, each with its own character. The Ruins of Balaclava offer a connection to the island’s past. Château Mon Désir brings a more refined and historic atmosphere. Anno 1743 adds another layer of heritage, while The Mill offers yet another setting. The Orangeraie now introduces something different: a contemporary, highly adaptable space that remains firmly rooted in the character of the estate.That diversity is increasingly valuable in a market where no two events are necessarily alike.

When The Orangeraie becomes available from November 2026, it will add another dimension to one of Mauritius’ most established hospitality and events destinations.
