Udu Technologies and AfriLabs Announce Strategic Partnership to Advance Pan-African AI Infrastructure

Udutech and AfriLabs have announced a strategic collaboration to support artificial intelligence innovation and development across the African continent.

Formalized following bilateral discussions at the Korea-Africa Economic Cooperation (KOAFEC) Ministerial Conference in Seoul, the partnership brings together Udutech’s high-performance compute capabilities and AfriLabs’ vast innovation network spanning 53 African countries. The initiative is designed to enable African startups and developers to build localized AI solutions tailored to key sectors, including finance, healthcare, education, and agriculture. Prior to this, Udutech and AfriLabs collaborated on compute-backed AI research, AI BRIDGE (AI Bias Reduction and Inclusive Data Generation Engine), which won an award in the Digital Frontiers category at the 2026 Digital@UNGA Awards, convened by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), following a global competition that attracted more than 1,500 submissions from 146 countries. AI BRIDGE addresses two critical gaps in artificial intelligence: gender bias in datasets and the underrepresentation of African languages. It identifies and reduces gender bias in datasets before AI models are trained, while supporting the development of more inclusive AI resources for African languages.

Key Focus Areas of the Collaboration

The partnership focuses on strengthening the infrastructure, educational frameworks, and ecosystem connections required to scale AI across Africa:

  • Compute Access: Establishing a dedicated AfriLabs Compute allocation on the Udutech platform, creating a structured framework for partner organizations and development funders to match or contribute AI credits for startups and innovation hubs.
  • Capacity Building: Collaborating through the AfriLabs Academy to develop AI training programs and resources for hub managers, enabling them to better guide and mentor early-stage AI ventures.
  • Ecosystem Engagement: Facilitating active participation by Udutech at the AfriLabs Annual Gathering to engage stakeholders across government, academia, corporate sectors, and development organizations.
  • High-Impact Scale: Supporting the growth of African-developed AI applications aimed at reaching significant user bases and delivering measurable industry impact.

Global Outreach and Coordination

Both organizations will engage global funding partners, academic institutions, and government bodies to expand compute accessibility and strengthen Africa’s broader tech ecosystem.
