Thales has been selected by Royal Air Maroc to digitalise its flight operations through AvioBook Flight, an advanced Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) solution designed to improve operational efficiency, support flight safety and strengthen the airline’s long-term growth ambitions.
Under a five-year agreement, pilots across Royal Air Maroc’s aircraft will be equipped with AvioBook Flight, developed by AvioBook, a Thales Group company. The technology is designed to streamline flight-related tasks, improve coordination between pilots and ground teams, and support more efficient and sustainable airline operations. The agreement comes as Morocco’s national carrier pursues an ambitious expansion strategy, with plans to grow its fleet to 200 aircraft by 2037. By introducing integrated digital tools into its flight operations, Royal Air Maroc aims to strengthen its operational capabilities while preparing for the demands of a larger fleet and an expanding international network.
Digital Innovation at the Heart of Aviation Operations
As airlines face growing pressure to improve efficiency, maintain high safety standards and reduce their environmental footprint, digital technologies are becoming increasingly important to flight operations. AvioBook Flight is designed to bring essential operational tools and information together within a single platform, helping pilots manage their activities more efficiently throughout the flight cycle.
The system incorporates capabilities intended to mitigate safety risks, support regulatory compliance, strengthen technological resilience and reduce operational delays. Its integration with back-office systems also allows information to move more seamlessly between flight crews and other operational teams.
By simplifying workflows and improving access to relevant information, the platform is expected to support shorter aircraft turnaround times and more efficient day-to-day operations. AvioBook brings more than a decade of experience in aviation software development, with its solutions having been implemented by 70 airlines worldwide. Its technology is designed to adapt to different operational requirements while addressing the practical needs of flight crews and airline management teams. For Royal Air Maroc, the agreement represents an opportunity to strengthen its digital capabilities as it prepares for the next phase of its growth.
Supporting Royal Air Maroc’s Expansion Plans
Royal Air Maroc has set an ambitious target of expanding its fleet to 200 aircraft by 2037. Achieving this objective will require continued investment in technology, operational processes and infrastructure capable of supporting a larger and more complex network. The introduction of AvioBook Flight is intended to help the airline build a more connected and efficient operational environment as its fleet grows.
Frédéric Dru, CEO of AvioBook, a Thales Group company, said the partnership reflects the role of digital innovation in supporting the airline’s long-term development. “We are proud to provide Royal Air Maroc with our market-leading software solutions that align with the airline’s ambitious digitalisation and expansion plans as they grow their fleet to 200 aircraft by 2037. We look forward to contributing to the airline’s evolution, positioning high technology at the heart of its development.” The five-year agreement is expected to support Royal Air Maroc’s efforts to modernise flight operations while establishing a scalable technological foundation for future expansion.
A Long-Standing Partnership Between Thales and Morocco
The latest agreement builds on an established relationship between Thales and Royal Air Maroc, which already collaborate in areas including in-flight entertainment, aircraft maintenance and cybersecurity. Beyond its work with the airline, Thales continues to strengthen its presence in Morocco’s aerospace and technology sectors, aligning its activities with the country’s ambitions to develop a modern, competitive and internationally connected aviation industry.
Yan Levy, CEO of Thales in Morocco, highlighted the significance of the partnership within the broader context of the Kingdom’s aviation development. “This agreement reflects Thales’ long-standing commitment to Morocco and to supporting the Kingdom’s ambitions. As Royal Air Maroc pursues its fleet expansion and strengthens its role as a leading carrier, we are proud to contribute with scalable digital solutions that enhance competitiveness, operational excellence and sustainability. Through innovation and local engagement, Thales remains fully aligned with Morocco’s vision for a modern, resilient and globally connected aviation sector.” His remarks underline the importance of combining advanced technology with local partnerships to support the development of Morocco’s aerospace ecosystem.
Showcasing Aviation Technology at Marrakech Airshow 2026
The announcement coincides with Thales’ participation in Marrakech Airshow 2026, held from 7 to 10 October at the Royal Moroccan Air Force Base in Marrakech. During the eighth edition of the event, Thales is presenting its latest solutions across civil aviation, defence, cybersecurity and digital technologies while engaging with Moroccan customers and partners. The airshow provides an opportunity for the company to demonstrate how technological innovation can support the changing needs of the aviation industry, while reinforcing its commitment to Morocco’s aerospace ambitions.
Building a More Efficient and Sustainable Aviation Future
The partnership between Thales and Royal Air Maroc reflects a broader transformation taking place across the aviation sector, where digitalisation is increasingly central to operational performance and long-term competitiveness. For airlines managing expanding fleets and increasingly complex operations, integrated digital platforms can help improve coordination, simplify workflows and make better use of operational information. By introducing AvioBook Flight, Royal Air Maroc is taking another step towards modernising its flight operations and preparing its systems for future growth. As the airline works towards its 2037 fleet target, the collaboration with Thales demonstrates how investment in digital technology can support operational excellence, resilience and sustainability while strengthening Morocco’s position in the global aviation industry.
