As Mauritius prepares to welcome business leaders from across Africa and the United States, AMCHAM Mauritius is encouraging local companies to take a proactive approach to the upcoming US–Africa Business Summit, turning the high-profile gathering into a platform for meaningful commercial engagement. In partnership with the US Embassy in Mauritius, AMCHAM Mauritius hosted a business reception at Suites by the Docks, United Docks, Port-Louis, bringing together representatives from across the local business community. The event aimed to help companies better understand the opportunities presented by the Summit and prepare to make the most of their participation. Open to members of AMCHAM Mauritius and other chambers of commerce in the country, the gathering highlighted the potential for networking, greater business visibility and the development of new commercial relationships.
Preparing for meaningful business connections
Moderated by Jessica Naga, the discussion brought together Stacy Crinks, Economic Officer at the US Embassy in Mauritius; Seewraj Nundlall, Director of the Manufacturing, Agro & Blue Economy Department at the Economic Development Board (EDB); and Morgane Adam, Associate at the Corporate Council on Africa.
The conversation focused on the practical steps businesses can take to ensure a productive Summit experience. These include identifying relevant contacts in advance, engaging existing clients and partners, showcasing their expertise and establishing a clear follow-up strategy to turn initial discussions into lasting business opportunities. For Mauritian companies, the Summit offers a valuable platform to connect with international decision-makers, explore potential partnerships and position their products and services within the wider African and American markets. As Jessica Naga explained: “This Summit represents a major opportunity for Mauritian businesses to expand their networks and establish new business relationships. Our role is to help them prepare for their participation so that these exchanges lead to lasting partnerships and tangible opportunities

Expanding visibility and participation opportunities
Beyond networking, the reception provided insights into the different ways businesses can participate in the Summit, including sponsorship and exhibition opportunities offered by the Corporate Council on Africa, as well as opportunities to be represented through the Mauritian Pavilion coordinated by the EDB. AMCHAM Mauritius also introduced the possibility of a shared exhibition stand for its members, providing a platform for companies to showcase their capabilities collectively and strengthen their visibility among international delegates.
In addition, the organisation outlined plans for a post-Summit reception involving representatives of other AMCHAM organisations attending the event in Mauritius. The initiative aims to create further opportunities for engagement and encourage connections between business communities to continue beyond the official programme. These initiatives reflect a broader effort to ensure that businesses can participate in the Summit in ways that align with their objectives, whether by promoting their expertise, exploring new markets or building relationships with potential partners and investors.
Turning the Summit into a catalyst for growth
The 2026 US–Africa Business Summit presents an important opportunity for Mauritius to strengthen its commercial ties with the United States and the wider African continent. For local businesses, its success will ultimately depend on their ability to transform meetings and conversations into practical outcomes. Through its collaboration with the US Embassy in Mauritius and its engagement with the EDB and the Corporate Council on Africa, AMCHAM Mauritius is helping businesses approach the event with greater clarity and purpose. As preparations gather momentum, the organisation remains focused on equipping companies to make meaningful connections, raise their profile and identify opportunities that extend beyond the four-day event.
The objective is clear: to ensure that the Summit serves not merely as an international meeting point, but as a springboard for stronger commercial relationships, new partnerships and sustainable business growth for Mauritius.
