Attitude had long dreamed of it. Today, it is a reality: a place that brings together people with a project close to their heart, an idea looking for its path, a need to connect, or simply the desire to share, learn or create with others. That place is the Melting Spot, a space for exchange set up by the Attitude Group at its premises in Beau Plan.
At Attitude, culture is regarded as one of the foundations of a living, dynamic society. Having supported a range of cultural projects and developed its own initiatives, the Group wanted to go further: to create a place where new possibilities for Mauritian culture could take shape. The Melting Spot was born from that ambition.
The name chosen for the space reflects it. “We chose the name ‘Melting Spot’ because we wanted to put the emphasis on the place itself: a meeting point where ideas, talents, generations and disciplines blend. It is also a nod to Mauritius, whose richness has always been built on encounters and multiple influences,” explains Clémentine Katz, Chief Marketing Officer of the Attitude Group.
What Exactly Is the Melting Spot?
Located within Attitude’s premises in Beau Plan, the Melting Spot is a hybrid space made up of several venues for creation, knowledge sharing and conviviality: a lounge, a rooftop, a recording studio and an amphitheatre called “l’Amphi”. In the reception area, an exhibition traces the history of Mauritian tourism and of the Attitude Group.
These spaces are open to Mauritian cultural players, as well as to entrepreneurs, researchers, associations and anyone with a project who wishes to build connections. Depending on the project, they are available free of charge or for hire.
Even before its official launch, the Melting Spot had already hosted several initiatives, including a workshop with the Moris Orkestra in April 2026, the recording of the podcast Cannes à sucre et préjugés, produced by Shakti Callikan, and an episode of the French podcast Bliss Stories.
On 6 June, the venue launched its official programme with a creative workshop led by painter Evan Sohun. In August, a Talk on storytelling as a tool for transmission followed. Hosted by Cristèle de Spéville and Clémence Soupe of the collective Enn Zour dan Enn Pei, the session explored the shift from oral tradition to the contemporary stage.
To kick off its series of artist meetings, Attitude invited the public to discover Nula Groove, second-prize winner of the Konpoz to Lamizik 2025 competition. He presented his new album in the intimate setting of the Melting Spot’s rooftop on 22 October.

Hotels That Do Good: The Attitude Group’s Commitment to Culture
Supporting culture is a given for the Attitude Group. It is not merely an image booster but a necessity. True to its people-first approach, Attitude believes that culture is the bedrock of a living, vibrant society.
Since its beginnings, the Group has supported numerous cultural projects in Mauritius, including the music festivals La Isla 2068 and Mama Jazz, the Samudra Art Prize, a competition and exhibition for visual artists, and, more recently, the Moris Orkestra, a project to create a 100% Mauritian philharmonic orchestra.
Attitude has also created its own initiatives, such as Konpoz to Lamizik, which supports and rewards Mauritian composers, musicians and performers, and the Talk Series, a series of public conversations on topics that matter, also released as podcasts.
Questions with Clémentine Katz, Chief Marketing Officer of the Attitude Group
Why would a hotel group want to create a space like the Melting Spot?
We have always believed that culture creates connection. That is why, for several years, Attitude has supported the Mauritian cultural scene through various initiatives. What we lacked, however, was a place that could bring them together, give them continuity and host new collaborations. The Melting Spot was born from that desire: to create a permanent space where ideas, disciplines and people can meet. Our hotels enable encounters with travellers; the Melting Spot is designed as a meeting place for Mauritians themselves.
Who would you like to see at the Melting Spot?
We want to welcome everyone who keeps Mauritian creativity alive: artists, authors, musicians, cultural entrepreneurs, associations, students, families and, more broadly, anyone who wants to discover, exchange and build connections. We hope everyone will make this place their own and contribute, in their own way, to this collective momentum. Its purpose is to be a place where conversations continue after the events, where disciplines meet and where new collaborations can emerge naturally.
In five years, what role will the Melting Spot play in the Mauritian cultural landscape?
We hope the Melting Spot will become a familiar fixture of the Mauritian cultural scene: a vibrant space where artists, creators, cultural entrepreneurs and the general public come together to share ideas and experiment with new formats. More than a programming venue, we want it to be a true project incubator and a springboard for emerging talent.
What pillars define the Melting Spot’s identity?
The Melting Spot’s identity rests on four pillars. First, creativity, by providing a platform for all forms of creation, whether artistic, cultural or entrepreneurial. Second, connection, by fostering dialogue between worlds, generations and disciplines that rarely have the chance to cross paths. Third, openness: the Melting Spot is meant to be a lively, inclusive space where everyone can find their place, whether a creator, a cultural player or simply a curious visitor. Finally, lasting impact, by supporting the artists, creators and initiatives that enrich the Mauritian cultural landscape.
How does the Melting Spot fit into Attitude’s global strategy?
The Melting Spot stems from a deep conviction at Attitude: an economy can only be truly prosperous if it is inclusive and contributes to the development of all sectors of society, including the creative industries. Culture is not a peripheral field; it plays a full part in economic dynamism, social cohesion and the identity of our island.
This conviction has guided our commitments for several years. Through Konpoz to Lamizik, we support and reveal talent on the Mauritian music scene. By backing events such as the La Isla 2068 festival, we also help showcase local artistic creation and give it space to express itself. The Melting Spot is a natural extension of this approach.
