In a significant move aimed at fostering business collaboration between India and Mauritius, the American Chamber of Commerce in Mauritius (AmCham) and the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 23rd October 2024 at the Hennessy Park Hotel. The agreement, signed by Mr. Ravin Lama, President of AmCham Mauritius, and Mr. Sanjay P. Ghag, Chief Representative of the ICC in Mauritius, marks a new chapter in strengthening commercial ties between the two nations.
The MoU aims to promote the development of business opportunities and deepen commercial links between the two countries, particularly within their respective business communities. Both parties have committed to harnessing their complementary advantages to create win-win cooperation, with Mauritius serving as a strategic gateway to the African continent.
“This partnership is a reflection of our shared vision to promote business growth and economic prosperity between India and Mauritius. It will facilitate business interactions and enhance opportunities for our respective members,” said Mr. Sanjay P. Ghag, speaking on behalf of the ICC.
Key objectives of the partnership include facilitating B2B meetings, seminars, conferences, trade fairs, and other promotional activities that will help establish commercial links between the two nations. Additionally, the MoU emphasises the exchange of information on economic developments and enhancing cooperation between officials of both organizations.
“AmCham Mauritius is committed to furthering business relations between our members and their Indian counterparts, and this agreement provides a solid foundation for mutual growth and success. We look forward to leveraging this partnership to foster more business opportunities not just in Mauritius and the US, but across the African region as well,” said Mr. Ravin Lama.
This collaboration underscores both organisations’ dedication to enhancing business relationships in a manner that is built on trust, respect, and harmony of interests. Both the ICC and AmCham Mauritius have reiterated that the MoU creates no financial obligations but aims to open up new avenues for cooperation and growth.
The signing ceremony was held at Hennessy Park Hotel, symbolising a new era of India-Mauritius collaboration.
