Visa, a world leader in digital payments has appointed Christian Mbonampeka as Country Manager for the Indian Ocean Islands and Djibouti.
Christian possesses extensive knowledge of the digital payments sector, with expertise in digital cross-border transactions, remittances, and fintech collaborations.
Speaking on the new appointment, Vice President and General Manager for East Africa at Visa, Chad Pollock said, “We couldn’t be more delighted to welcome Christian to our Visa East Africa family. Christian brings with him a wealth of knowledge in payments, a global outlook and an unwavering drive for action. His presence is sure to be a catalyst for extraordinary achievements across our region and within Visa’s global network.”
Christian, who will manage operations in Djibouti, Mauritius, Madagascar, and Seychelles, brings a wealth of experience to his role, with 15 years in the financial services sector spanning Brussels, London, and Nairobi.

Christian earned an MSc in Polytechnical Engineering from the Royal Military Academy in Brussels, Belgium, and holds a Postgraduate degree in Automation from ULB in Belgium.
