Absa Mauritius commits to promoting the inclusion of people with disabilities by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Mauritius

Absa Mauritius has taken a new step in its commitment to social inclusion by signing a Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Mauritius. This ambitious partnership aims to promote equal opportunities and create tangible prospects for people with disabilities.

Under the terms of this MoU, both institutions commit to collaborating on the following initiatives:

  • Establishing internship and fixed-term employment opportunities at Absa for students with disabilities from the University of Mauritius.
  • Launching a joint Master’s programme under the Graduate Training Employment Scheme (GTES) of the Human Resource Development Council (HRDC).
  • Creating a lab equipped with the latest technologies, supported by Absa, to enable inclusive learning.
  • Organising customised training sessions, conferences, and workshops to enhance the skills of students concerned.

This partnership is part of Absa Mauritius’ ongoing commitments to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), which lie at the heart of its sustainability strategy. In this regard, the bank actively collaborates with partners such as the Global Rainbow Foundation (GRF) through tangible initiatives like improving the accessibility of its premises, supporting youth with disabilities through a mentorship programme, and developing a Financial Literacy Programme to equip participants with practical skills for more autonomous financial management.

The bank was also awarded the Top Employer 2025 certification, a recognition of its dedication to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and innovation-driven workplace culture.
