Dynamic QR Code connected to tills – an innovation by blink and Super U

blink, the award-winning FinTech platform by Emtel, and SuperU have today, 9 October, launched the first-ever dynamic QR code connected to tills to ease ‘Scan & Pay’ for both customers and merchants. This new feature was revealed at a ceremony in Super U in Tamarin, and it is now live at all Super U outlets in Mauritius.

Under this innovative solution developed by blink, a QR code device is connected directly to the till or POS, and so any amount related to the purchase by the customer automatically transfers to the Dynamic QR device. The device will then instantly generate a QR code. When the customer scans the QR code, the amount due is automatically populated onto the customer app.  Once the customer makes the payment, the till automatically releases the payment to the cashier and the receipt is issued to the customer.

This new solution eliminates input errors by the cashier or customer, allows easy financial reconciliation, avoids the risk of duplicate payments and enables a faster and error-proof process.

Commenting on the launch of this new integration, Kresh Goomany, CEO of Emtel, and Atul Bhatia, Chief Fintech Officer, said:

“We are proud to be partnering with Super U to launch this innovative till integration with a Dynamic QR code device. The QR code is as per MauCAS guidelines of the Bank of Mauritius and accepts payments for all payment apps. The same solution will soon be rolled out to other supermarkets across the island. It is the first time that this ground-breaking solution is being used in Mauritius. blink is constantly striving to pioneer new technologies to make life easier for customers and merchants alike.”

“This launch represents another exciting chapter on the blink journey. Our objective is to ensure that the local payment ecosystem keeps evolving. blink continues to promote innovation in the market. This new integration is seamless, safe, secure, fast and error free, improving both the merchant and customer experience.”

Sharing his perspective, Alban Gavoille, Commercial Director of Super U, concluded:

“At Super U, we are constantly seeking innovative solutions to enhance our in-store customer experience. This partnership with blink by Emtel to launch dynamic QR code integration at the till marks a major step forward in the digitalisation of our services. It is a first in Mauritius, and we are proud to be pioneers of this innovation alongside a trusted local partner like Emtel.”

“This collaboration with blink by Emtel marks an important milestone in our commitment to enhancing customer convenience and embracing cutting-edge technology in retail. By enabling dynamic QR code payment directly at the till, we’re simplifying the payment process, reducing errors, and creating a smoother, faster checkout experience for our customers. We are proud to be the first retail chain in Mauritius to implement this innovation.”
