Zoho moves up a gear in Mauritius: 33% growth and a new office to strengthen its regional presence

Representatives of Zoho confirmed the upcoming opening of their first office in Mauritius in the margins of the second edition of Zoholics, the company’s flagship event held on November 4th in Ebène. They also highlighted the company’s strong performance in the country, with a 33% increase in its activities in the local market over the last three years.

Zoho, one of the world leaders in cloud solutions for companies, has announced the opening of its very first office in the Indian Ocean area. Located in NeXTeracom, at Ebène Cybercity, this new site marks the first establishment in Mauritius and is part of the company’s strategy to gradually expand its regional presence and its outreach to Africa.

The company also indicated that it has recorded an average annual growth rate of 33% in the Mauritian market over the past three years. These announcements were made on the sidelines of Zoholics, Zoho’s flagship annual conference, which offers participants a unique experience combining conferences, practical workshops and networking opportunities with experts and leaders of its ecosystem.

A strategic hub for French-speaking Africa

Zoho is moving up a gear to get closer to the companies it supports, by offering a reinforced service and direct interactions with its various divisions. The Mauritian office will also act as a strategic hub for French-speaking Africa, offering pre-sales, sales and training services adapted to local languages, in French and Creole.

A local presence, a global vision

This initiative is part of Zoho’s “transnational localism” strategy, which aims to be present locally while remaining connected at global level. In this context, the company invests in local talents and supports regional economies by accompanying local actors in their language and according to their context.

The site will also include a training centre designed to help customers, partners and professionals acquire practical expertise on the Zoho suite of applications. “Mauritius occupies a strategic place in our development in French-speaking Africa,” explained Hyther Nizam, President of Zoho Middle East and Africa.

“Through our presence on the island, we aim to offer companies direct access to cloud technology, training and local support. Thanks to its talent pool, its multilingual workforce and its business-friendly environment, Mauritius allows us to support the digital transformation of organizations and expand their influence at regional level.”

A confirmed growth dynamic

Zoho’s performance in Mauritius confirms a sustained growth trend. Over the past year, the company has recorded a 30% increase in its network of local partners, a sign of the growing interest in its solutions among IT service providers and resellers in the country.

At the same time, Zoho is collaborating with Mauritian SMEs to support their digital transformation initiatives at regional level — all indicators that support the decision to set up an office in Mauritius and strengthen its development on the territory.

“The opening of this office reaffirms our long-term commitment to Mauritius and, more broadly, to the African continent,” emphasised Premanand Velumani, Associate Director, Strategic Growth, Zoho MEA.

“We want to be a key partner in the digital transformation of local companies, by creating new opportunities, supporting our partners and helping organizations of all sizes to adopt technologies that can lead to sustainable growth.”

Adapted solutions and a booming market

Zoho’s growth in Mauritius is explained by the sustained demand for integrated and flexible cloud solutions, but also by the company’s strategy which relies on local talent and regional partnerships to strengthen its presence on the continent.

The most popular solutions on the Mauritian market include Zoho One (operating system for companies), Creator (low-code platform), Desk (customer support management), CRM (customer relationship management), Books (accounting software) and Workplace (collaborative suite and corporate messaging).

This dynamic concerns several key sectors: information technology, financial services, the liberal professions, retail trade, telecommunications, tourism and hospitality, agri-food, as well as real estate and construction.

Premanand Velumani: “We thought it could be a strategic move for us to be in Mauritius”

Elaborating on the rationale for the setting up of the office in Mauritius, in the margins of the event, Premanand Velumani, Associate Director, Strategic Growth at Zoho MEA, emphasised that the company saw Mauritius as a “pull market” which had experienced 12X growth from 2018 to 2025, with a compound annual growth of 43% year on year.

In terms of the India-Africa axis, Premanand recalled that India and Mauritius have always been on “very good terms” with a good synergy between the countries, which meant that “Mauritius could be a good hub for us, and also a gateway for Africa. Whatever we do here is serious in a good way, as people look up to Mauritius. It has a spillover into South Africa, Reunion Island, Seychelles and Madagascar. We thought it could be a strategic move for us to be in Mauritius, to make sure that we supply to the whole of Africa,” he underlined.

Regarding the next steps in Mauritius, Premanand confirmed that Zoho would be hiring more staff and then training them to serve the local people. They would then look to other French-speaking countries in the region before reaching out to the whole of French-speaking Africa. Premanand underlined that West Africa was a “good market” for Zoho, having noted a 300% shift to their entire productivity suite called Zoho Workplace. He underlined that Zoho was serving the market at one-third of the cost, and that people in West Africa were able to see the value.
