Absa is warning its customers and members of the public about fraudulent Facebook pages and websites that are falsely promoting a new Absa mobile banking application.
These pages and websites are being used to encourage people to click on links and download unauthorised applications. Absa Mauritius has not launched a new mobile banking application through these platforms.
Customers are advised to always check information through Absa’s official channels and to download banking applications only from trusted and official app stores. Customers should also never share their passwords, PINs, one-time passwords (OTPs) or any other banking information with anyone.
If you come across a suspicious Facebook page, website, advertisement, message or link claiming to be from Absa, please report it to the Bank. If you are unsure about the authenticity of any communication, please contact Absa Mauritius on 402 1000.
Absa Mauritius would also like to reassure its customers and the public that the Bank operates in accordance with the laws and regulations in force in Mauritius, as well as the applicable international standards of the Absa Group.
The Bank encourages everyone to remain vigilant and to take care when clicking on links or downloading applications received through social media, text messages, emails or other online platforms.
