Coveted Unstoppable Africa 2026 to discuss continent’s huge growth potential

NEW YORK, United States of America, September 17/APO Group: The flagship annual event of the Global Africa Business Initiative (GABI), Unstoppable Africa 2026, is set to take place from September 20-21, discussing the continent’s future in New York.

The event will see the participation of notable figures such as the President & CEO of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote; UN Secretary-General António Guterres; President, Republic of Ghana H.E. John Dramani Mahama; President, Republic of Namibia H.E. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah; President, Republic of Botswana H.E. Duma Gideon Boko; and Chairperson of the African Union Commission H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf.

The event comes at a time when Africa is entering a new phase of growth as investment and expanding markets are paving the way for value-added creation, as the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area could create a USD 3.4 trillion market, according to the UNCTAD’s 2024 Economic Development in Africa report.

Ahead of the opening of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, Unstoppable Africa’s central focus will be Africa’s derived value from its resources, markets, businesses, and people. With the theme “Powering Business, Scaling Economies, Shaping the Future”, the fifth edition of Unstoppable Africa will highlight the investments and partnerships needed to help shape Africa’s economic potential into thriving businesses and resilient economies.

The event will include five themes spanning across trade, energy, digital transformation, creative industries, and sport. Technology, innovation, and policy voices include the Chief Minister and Chief Innovation Officer of Sierra Leone, Dr David Moinina Sengeh; and the CEO and Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Sustainable Energy for All, Damilola Ogunbiyi.

Convened by the United Nations Global Compact, GABI brings African and global private sector leaders, governments, and investors together to drive investment into Africa. It is linked to the UN Global Compact and the African Union Commission.

Since its launch, GABI has become a major platform for business leadership. Unstoppable Africa 2025 attracted more than 6,000 participants, including heads of state, CEOs, and development finance leaders from Africa. The 2026 edition builds on this momentum, connecting decision-makers around investment, partnership, and the growth of African businesses.
