Port-Louis, October 8: Deemed an essential tool to quantify governance, risk management, and the significance of operations within companies, internal audit is rapidly changing. In the wake of Artificial Intelligence and new entrepreneurial strategies, the annual conference of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Mauritius, set to be held on October 22 and 23, 2026, at the Hilton hotel in Flic-en-Flac, will discuss the role of federating practitioners around the theme “Beyond Assurance: Building Trust, Resilience and Value Together”. An internationally recognized organization with more than 200 members in Mauritius, the IIA aims to ensure dynamic leadership within the profession.
The institute covers a large number of economic sectors, from banking to insurance, finance, and large companies, where the annual meeting serves as an opportunity for its members to share their experiences, learn, train, and learn about the latest trends in the profession. This year’s theme, “Beyond Assurance: Building Trust, Resilience and Value Together”, will directly address the drastic changes impacting the practice: AI, new technologies, the evolving world of work, and new roles for business leaders.
The event, spanning over two days, will have experts, renowned speakers, and panelists discuss the best ways to ensure the resilience and efficiently support companies during this phase of evolution. “Faced with the transformations that currently impact organizations, whether it is artificial intelligence, new technologies, or the evolution of risks, it is essential that our profession continues to anticipate, adapt, and provide value. This annual conference will offer a space for exchange and reflection on the issues that will shape the future of internal audit and governance,” commented the President of IIA Mauritius, Valery Modeste-Jacob.
Founder of Brave Inflexions and keynote speaker for the event, Dr Claudelle Von Eck added, “The numbers can tell us what has already happened, while the rules and procedures tell us what should happen. But neither of them allows us to fully understand the human dynamics that are at play within an organization and their impact on its future success. This is precisely what we will explore.
