Wednesday, October 14: Internationally acclaimed author, motivational speaker and leadership expert Shiv Khera is in Mauritius at the invitation of the Mauritius Institute of Directors (MIoD), in collaboration with its strategic partner, Excelerate Consulting.
Khera’s visit brings international perspectives on leadership, resilience and accountability to the business community at a time when leaders must navigate economic uncertainty, rapid technological change and rising organisational demands.
His visit forms part of the exclusive Leadership Conference, “Turning Setbacks into Comebacks: The Winner Mindset,” on Friday, October 16, that will explore how leaders can turn challenges into opportunities, make sound decisions under pressure and build resilient, high-performing teams without compromising their values.
In an increasingly complex business environment, leadership is not simply about managing change, it is about responding with clarity, taking responsibility, and turning adversity into an opportunity for growth. Through practical insights, real-life examples and interactive discussions, participants will explore strategies to learn from setbacks, strengthen decision-making and inspire their teams to perform at their best.

Chief Executive Officer of MIoD Sheila Ujoodha highlighted that “Traditional leadership approaches are no longer sufficient for today’s business ecosystem. We need leaders with the right mindset and character to act with agility, demonstrate accountability, build trust and lead ethically. We are pleased to welcome Shiv Khera, in collaboration with Excelerate Consulting, to share practical insights on how leaders can turn challenges into opportunities and bring out the best in their teams.”
Shiv Khera underlined that he is delighted to be back on the island, to have this opportunity to engage with the business community. He emphasised, “Turning setbacks into comebacks starts with taking responsibility, learning from what went wrong, and deciding what to do differently. Leaders influence not only their own outcomes but also the confidence and actions of those around them. I look forward to sharing practical insights that participants can apply to their challenges and use to support their teams through change.”
On the other hand, founder & CEO of Excelerate Consulting, Shateeaum Sewpaul, said, “Our partnership with MIoD reflects a shared commitment to strengthening leadership capabilities in Mauritius. The focus is on translating international insights into practical action, helping leaders take responsibility, support their teams and respond more effectively to challenges.”
Through this collaboration, the MIoD and Excelerate Consulting aim to support stronger, more adaptable organisations through effective leadership. This ambition complements the MIoD’s broader mission to strengthen the corporate governance ecosystem in Mauritius.
