October 16: The Economic Development Board (EDB) hosted four events in Nairobi, namely the Higher Education Fair, Student Recruitment Agency Roundtable, B2B matching event and Business Forum, designed to strengthen Mauritius-Kenya linkages across fields such as education, financial services and technology.
The Higher Education Fair brought together 11 public and private educational institutions and 440 students, providing institutions with an opportunity to showcase their programmes and engage directly with prospective students in exploring higher education opportunities abroad. The education programme was further strengthened through a roundtable with 6 Kenyan student recruitment agencies, bringing together Mauritius-based educational institutions and local education intermediaries to exchange insights on student mobility, recruitment opportunities and promoting the jurisdiction as a destination for higher education.
While the B2B matchmaking session connected ICT companies from Mauritius, including NVision IT Ltd, Realign Consulting Services Ltd and AIMIT Ltd, with around 22 Kenyan businesses and decision-makers, paving the way for opportunities in terms of market access, investment and strategic partnerships.
The engagements culminated in a Business Forum themed “Kenya-Mauritius: Connecting Finance, Investment, and Technology for Africa”, which saw the presence of over 160 stakeholders, including financial institutions, investors, ICT companies and government representatives. The forum hinged on opportunities for stronger cross-border partnerships and positioned Mauritius as a strategic platform for investment and business expansion across Africa.
Director at EDB, Nanda Narrainen commented: “For decades, our relationship has been rooted in mutual respect. But today, as Africa stands at the precipice of a historic economic transformation driven by the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), respect alone is no longer enough. We are called to translate our historical friendship into tangible economic partnerships to build bridges of capital, technology, and human intellect that connect Port Louis to Nairobi.”
