Enabling Stablecoin Donations for Wildlife Conservation Through a Regulated Digital Asset Ecosystem
Mauritian Wildlife Foundation (MWF) and MINDEX, Mauritius’s regulated digital asset exchange, have announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that will allow individuals and organisations worldwide to donate to wildlife conservation projects in
Mauritius using stablecoins, fully within MINDEX’s regulated and compliant ecosystem.
The MOU, which was signed on World Environment Day 2026, marks a pioneering step for environmental funding in Mauritius, bringing the transparency and global reach of digital assets to bear on the urgent challenges facing the island nation’s unique biodiversity. Donors across the globe will be able to contribute to projects protecting threatened species, restoring natural habitats, and advancing environmental education, with every transaction processed through MINDEX’s secure, regulatory-compliant infrastructure.
Commenting on the benefits of the partnership, Vikash Tatayah, Conservation Director at Mauritian Wildlife Foundation, highlighted: “Whilst conservation of the Mauritius’ unique biodiversity is an urgency, funding for this sector is lagging behind. Traditional conservation funding strategies may have reached their limits. What is additionally required is innovative finance. The collaboration with MINDEX removes one of the most significant barriers we face, namely access to global philanthropy through a regulated system. Signed on World Environment Day 2026, this MOU is our belief that innovative finance and conservation can, and must, walk hand in hand.”
Sharing her perspective, Jessica T. Naga, Group CEO and Co-Founder of MINDEX, added: “At MINDEX, we believe that regulated digital asset infrastructure should serve a purpose far greater than finance alone. Enabling stablecoin donations for wildlife conservation in Mauritius is the embodiment of our core motto: Purpose-Driven Innovation. We are proud to provide a compliant, transparent, and accessible platform that turns digital value into real-world environmental impact.”
Digital finance to support societal and environmental goals
Under the partnership, which will facilitate Regulated Virtual Assets Donations, all contributions will be processed through MINDEX’s fully regulated digital asset exchange, ensuring compliance with Mauritius’s financial laws and international AML/KYC standards.
The partnership will allow supporters from any country to donate in stablecoin, dramatically broadening the potential donor base for conservation projects to global level.
In terms of the conservation focus, funds will support MWF’s conservation actions, which is engaged across key conservation sites in Mauritius and Rodrigues, working to safeguard native species and habitats. The collaboration will deliver the concrete benefits of Purpose-Driven Innovation, as a direct expression of MINDEX’s strategic mandate to deploy digital finance in service of meaningful societal and environmental goals. Donations can take place immediately using stablecoins by contacting the MINDEX team on info@mindex.group or the Mauritian Wildlife Foundation team on fundraising@mauritian-wildlife.org, for more details about the applicable process.
