Jurisdiction makes strong pitch at VivaTech 2026

The jurisdiction has reiterated its commitment to emerge as a leading innovation and technology hub by participating in VivaTech 2026, Europe’s largest startup and technology event, through a delegation helmed by the Economic Development Board (EDB).

The Mauritius Pavilion brought under one roof a group of innovative startups providing one-of-a-kind platforms to help showcase the country’s growing digital capabilities, connect with international investors and partners. It aims to promote the jurisdiction as a competitive destination for investment and innovation.

One of the key takeaways at the event was the panel discussion, “Building an AI-Driven Mauritius: Innovation, Talent and Trust,” which explored the country’s potential for harnessing artificial intelligence as a catalyst for economic growth.

The panel explored the key building blocks needed to foster an AI-driven economy, including:

  • Developing a national AI ecosystem that fosters innovation and entrepreneurship.
  • Investing in digital skills and AI talent to prepare the workforce of the future.
  • Strengthening collaboration between government, academia, industry, and startups.
  • Promoting responsible and ethical AI through robust governance frameworks.
  • Positioning Mauritius as a regional gateway for AI innovation and digital services.

The discussion also emphasized that the jurisdiction has a unique opportunity to leverage its agility, strong digital infrastructure, and skilled workforce to become a regional hub for AI innovation and digital transformation.

The delegation also engaged in fruitful discussions with potential partners, investors, and business leaders from across Europe and beyond, fostering new connections and exploring opportunities for collaboration, investment, and market expansion.

The participation has sent a strong signal that the island is ready to be part of the global conversation on AI, deeptech, and the digital economy of tomorrow.

One of the high points were the number of local start-ups attending, such as Breedj, presenting its AI-powered platform designed to help companies access international talent through recruitment, payroll, and remote work management solutions.

Another key player from Mauritius is Eqxia expected to introduce REEF, an AI governance platform designed for regulated industries such as finance, healthcare, and legal services.

While AETHEIS seeks to demonstrate that Mauritius and Africa can become innovation laboratories for AI-powered professional training. The company has developed LearnNSucceed, an AI-driven, personalized coaching platform designed to transform corporate learning and workforce development.

Under compliance and governance, BlueFoxSAS has developed VERA, an AI agent developed to automate repetitive compliance tasks and enable teams to focus more on analysis, risk management, and decision-making processes.
