Emtel Partners with STEM Racing Mauritius to Power Two Exceptional Youth Teams to the World Finals in Singapore

Emtel, a pioneer in mobile and digital technology in Mauritius, is proud to announce its partnership and sponsorship of STEM Racing Mauritius. Announced following the official presentation of the teams on 26 September at the Institut Français de Maurice (IFM), this collaboration will see Emtel support two distinct Mauritian teams, CSE Velocity and Racing Vortex, as they independently compete at the prestigious Aramco STEM Racing World Finals in Singapore from 3–8 October 2026.

A milestone for Mauritius and Africa

The World Finals, held alongside the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix, marks a monumental milestone for Mauritius. For the first time, two Mauritian teams have qualified to compete at the STEM Racing World Finals, providing a powerful international platform to showcase the country’s young talent in engineering, technology, innovation, entrepreneurship and teamwork.

CSE Velocity, representing Collège du Saint Esprit, earned its place at the World Finals after winning the STEM Racing Mauritius National Finals 2025. The team will compete as Mauritius’ national champions, demonstrating the engineering skills, creativity, project management and determination developed throughout their STEM Racing journey.

Racing Vortex, a separate Mauritian team, will also compete at the World Finals in Singapore. Composed of three young female innovators, the team brings its own distinctive approach centred on engineering, innovation, teamwork and sustainability. Guided by their motto, “Engineering Speed. Inspiring Africa,” Racing Vortex will proudly carry the Mauritian flag on the international stage.

Two independent teams, one global platform

The two teams have followed their own independent STEM Racing journeys, developed their own cars, projects, branding and strategies, and will compete separately against teams from around the world at the World Finals. Their participation together represents a significant milestone for Mauritius and the African continent.

“At Emtel, we have always believed in connecting Mauritius to the world and unlocking the potential of our people. Sponsoring these brilliant young innovators is a natural extension of our legacy. These students are not just engineering miniature racing cars; they are engineering their own futures and demonstrating what Mauritian ingenuity can achieve on a global platform. We are thrilled to walk this journey with them and support them every step of the way,” said Marcelo Aleman, CEO of Emtel.

Beyond traditional sponsorship visibility, the partnership introduces an authentic digital storytelling activation. As the two teams travel to Singapore, they will utilise the Emtel eSIM Voyaz to stay seamlessly connected across borders. This initiative highlights how digital connectivity bridges local ambition with international opportunity, creating a living narrative around travel, technology and the experience of representing Mauritius abroad. Representing the exclusive country-level franchise, François Mark, In-Country Coordinator (ICC) for STEM Racing Mauritius, added: “Having received approval in principle from Andrew Denford, CEO of STEM Racing HQ, for Mauritius to become the official African Hub, with our ultimate ambition of hosting the first African Continental Cup in 2027, this partnership with Emtel is a monumental step forward. Emtel brings a vital focus on telecommunications and digital technology that elevates the entire ecosystem, ensuring our two Mauritian teams have strong support as they fly our flag high in Singapore.”

Looking Ahead to the 2027 African Continental Cup

Looking beyond the 2026 World Finals, STEM Racing Mauritius continues to work closely with STEM Racing HQ towards developing Mauritius as a thriving African STEM Racing Hub, with the ambition of paving the way for the 2027 African Continental Cup.

The participation of CSE Velocity and Racing Vortex at the World Finals represents more than a competition. It is an opportunity for two independent Mauritian teams to demonstrate the creativity, technical capability and ambition of the country’s youth while placing Mauritius and Africa firmly on the global STEM Racing map.
