Emtel makes its debut on the SEM and celebrates its successful IPO

It’s a day of celebration for Emtel! One of the country’s leading telecommunications network operators is officially listed on the Stock Exchange of Mauritius (SEM). To commemorate this historic milestone, a prestigious ceremony was held in the presence of investors, analysts, key partners, and Emtel’s dedicated team at the Hennessy Park Hotel on July 5th. Mr. Sunil Benimadhu, CEO of SEM, had the honor of presenting the “SEM Listing Certificate” to Mr. Kresh Goomany, CEO of Emtel Ltd, symbolizing Emtel’s official integration into the Mauritian stock exchange. Mr. Kevin Rangasami, Chairman of SEM, presented the “SEM Trophy Souvenir” to Mr. Bashir A. Currimjee, Chairman of Emtel Ltd, in recognition of Emtel’s significant contribution to the development of the Mauritian technological landscape.

This historic milestone marks Emtel’s evolution from a telecommunications leader to a pivotal player in the technology sector. Bashir Currimjee, Chairman of Emtel, expressed his enthusiasm: “Our IPO reflects the confidence of our shareholders, partners, and customers. We are grateful to all our investors, from individuals to institutions.” Bashir Currimjee emphasized the importance of this trust. “It’s a responsibility we take very seriously. We remain committed to honoring this trust.” Looking ahead, Emtel is optimistic. “Our strategic initiatives are progressing as planned,” affirmed Emtel’s Chairman. “This successful launch positions us to create significant long-term value.”

“I congratulate Emtel on this significant milestone. At the Stock Exchange of Mauritius (SEM), we are delighted with Emtel’s arrival in our market. Emtel has contributed 10.7 billion rupees to SEM’s total market capitalization, which now stands at 342 billion rupees, or 53% of the country’s GDP. Emtel’s arrival also brings immense value to SEM by enhancing the depth and diversity of our market. This allows us to offer our investors a wider range of investment products, particularly in the technology sector. We wish Emtel all the best,” added Sunil Benimadhu, Chief Executive of the Stock Exchange of Mauritius.
